Great action, Sunday (don’t have to think) adventure film
It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.
A brilliant film, best i,ve seen in ages you would never believe this was filmed around London the special effects are fantastic. This is the best tarzan film i have ever seen. Watched it agasin last night need a few more good films like this.
I was initially very doubting about this movie but, from the deeply atmospheric opening scenes to the enjoyable action-fest ending, this film entertains with something for all who would find a movie like this worth more than one viewing. All the actors appear to enjoy their roles.
The soundtrack is fantastic as well (no surprise the composer was picked for Wonder Woman).
Started well but faded. Some blasphemy which spoiled it.
Its so crap no story to speak of.
Its just Tarzan going back after he has grown up and they still managed to screw that up.
Liked it,well made film
Really liked it. Love the books and this was a solid version. Not like a lot of blockbusters but all the better for it. A thoughtful Tarzan who sees that the best way to win isn't necessarily to thump someone. Recommended!
A remake of the brilliant "Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes". This film is a shadow of the original and laughable. Little attention has been paid to the actual story telling rather it is a display of special effects. The meaningful and poignant moments are cringe worthy as is Tarzan's cry.
Amazing / you'll have a good time.
A good family watch.
Beautiful film, simple but effective. Wonderfully written and each character thought about.
Had I not been trapped on a 12 hour flight with limited movie selection and unable to sleep I would never have watched the whole film. Simply awful.
Unremittingly awful. Its not even entertainingly bad. Make it stop.
Picked this movie randomly to fall asleep to with it playing in the background but it was SO good that I stayed up for the whole thing! Loved the Cinematography, fantastic movie!
Yes it has its faults, yes it could have been better but I honestly enjoyed it. A cool Tarzan, a nice plot, a marvellous villain- what is there more to ask?
Would of preferred more jungle scenes of Tarzan growing up but as for the rest, they nailed it.
Was not as good I I expected. But enjoyed it never the less.
soon much that could have been done with Tarzan. Poorly directed, big lapses in & illogical story and following stories don’t tie in. Also the white savior rescues the slavery issues, bit racist. Then on the other side the cheesy moments where way over the top, e.g. how Jane & Tarzan met arghh cringe, cringe & very obvious photoshopping to make them look younger. Gave two stars because its Tarzan.
I really enjoyed this film, although very different to the old B&W Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan films I used to watch on a Saturday morning many years ago.
It does have familiar themes which made me smile, such as the love and affinity for animals. Stunning visuals, action, adventure and romance!
It really validates Tarzan as a cinematic spectacle, both lead actors were good casting choices and great in their roles.
An ideal movie choice for a family afternoon matinee.
Think of the money I would save by not being tempted ever again to rent / buy a movie?
Even with Margot Robbie trying her hardest this film is poor.
As a man born out of place, misfit and misunderstood by all sides but, as an outsider, working through his personal issues for the good of all, Tarzan makes sense. Take him out of that context of local hero and make him some kind of justice warrior, especially when the issue is slavery and the "Congo Horrors" and Tarzan becomes the classic racist trope, a White Saviour. Felt like I was watching a film from the 70s not 2016.
Waltz terrifying as usual, Robbie completely unrecognisable after Suicide Squad, Jackson turning up, Skarsgard channelling Christopher Lambert's 1984 deadpan, green screen upstaging everyone.
The director had so much to work with and he produced this - I couldn't finish it!
pure cheese. christoph waltz what you doing in this. I fell asleep. we did laugh at it throughout so thats a plus!
How can you throw so much money at such a chaotic, juvenue mishmash of nonsense.
Please put Margo in something better.
Definitely worth a watch!! Loved the storyline and the acting was brilliant! I loved it how Jane wasn't a helpless woman (like in most action movies) in this she was strong, fierce and willing to fight!
Not what the trailers promised ! Full of hope when I finally got to see this adaptation, but, sadly feeling let down. The opening soundtrack had me anticipating greatness. It did not keep me in that frame of mind for long. Christoph Waltz, lacklustre, poorly miscast. Samuel Jackson ridiculous performance. Margot Robbie at least worth looking at. But honestly a huge let down after all of the hype. Disappointed, it has some moments but then kept drifting off the mark. Can se why it was released at £9.99, even then not worth it.
Authentic and true to Rice Burroughs depiction of Tarzan and his home.
Incredible portrayal by Skarsgard and an amazing supporting cast.
I think that this story is unique especially with the CGI effects and setting. I think that Alexander Skarsgard is brilliant as Tarzan and Margot Robbie is brilliant as Jane. It's nice to see the after story which tells us how they lived together and that they make the decision of having to return to the jungle. The Legend of Tarzan is one of the best must watch movies of 2016 in my own opinion.
If they where looking to reboot the Tarzan story they should of start from the start and told the story from child to meeting Jane not flash backs. But I'll say it was still entertaining
I really liked Tarzan, was a great story, very entertaining, was well cast and I would happily watch it again.
Sadly, due to a fire alarm going off ten minutes before the end, I can't give a full opinion of the film but I enjoyed what I did see thoroughly. Skarsgård is surprisingly great as Tarzan/Clayton, Jackson seems to be having fun with his role and the other main cast haven't let the side down. Can't wait to see how it ends, not feeling I'll be disappointed...might even earn the fifth star...
The Legend of Tarzan is an amazing movie to watch. Alexander Skarsgard portrays Tarzan brilliantly alongside Morgot Robbie, Christoph Waltz and Samuel L. Jackson. A movie that I look forward to downloading from iTunes when it becomes available.
One of the best movies I have seen in the cinema in ages! I just couldn't wait to pre order!
