I am a huge Stephen King fan, and enjoyed the novel Cell. This movie, however, is perhaps the worst film I have ever watched.
Cell is plodding, poorly written, with dreadful performances. John Cusack (who I have enjoyed in other films, like the classic Gross Point Blank) is badly cast and his performance is creepy, but not in a good way. Samuel L. Jackson looks bored. The supporting cast are so inconsequential that I forgot them the moment they left the screen.
The only reason I made it through the movie, is that I heard that Stephen King had rewritten the ending. The ending, unfortunately, was utterly nonsensical, confusing and deeply unsatisfying.
I would recommend eye surgery over this movie.
I really, really, REALLY cannot understand the 5 star reviews.

The idea is really interesting, and the development works, but the payoff left me feeling really disappointed.

It watches like someone has read the book synopsis of the book, said 'Meh...', and then gone to lunch.
I struggled through this with my girlfriend (who loves Stephen King, and says 'Hi.') all the while wondering if i'd rather watch another minute or chew off one of my testicles. Testicles intact I reached the disapointing end of the film to find said girlfriend asleep. After such a waste of time I have decided to spend my life hunting down Samuel L jackson and chewing off his testicles. There weren't even any snakes OR planes!!!
My Girlfriend, the King fan, says this is an acurate review. And that the book is worth a read.

I wasn't expecting this to be that good... but I was proven wrong. I am a big Stephen King fan and his involvement in the screenplay is a positive influence. The cinematography is nothing groundbreaking but fine for the purpose; the story has pace and is gripping and the acting and sfx are believable and of a high quality. Not in the least bit scary, but good movie fun none-the-less.

Just awful

One of the worst films I have seen. I love the zombie genre and I love King books but mentally switched off after about 25 minutes and physically switched off after an hour!

I HAVE NOTHING TO ADD TO THAT, EXCEPT TO SAY THAT THE APPALLING SPATE OF PATENTLY FAKE REVIEWS BELOW SHOULD BE IGNORED, AND I-TUNES - HOW ON EARTH CAN YOU BE ALLOWING THIS FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY TO CONTINUE? DISGUSTING. BUT NOT AS DISGUSTING AS THIS BLOODY TERRIBLE EXCUSE FOR A FILM. TOSH.

Yeah, no, sorry it's crap!
Really not sure it was worth spending thus many minutes of my life on this, one can only hope that the book was better. But frankly on the strength of this I won't be bothering....

I was waiting for this movie with excitement, as I read the book and I really like the book. My apple device didn't play the movie smoothly , but I managed to finish it and I'am disappointed of this dreadful movie adoption.:(
Many facts missed or changed, and of course they change those affected to zombies.
Hmm "walking dead "is enough-thanks.

Stephen King plus Sam L Jackson does not a good movie make.

With a promising cast and a promising origin from Stephen King the film is let down by a lack of plot... Things happen and there is action but its never adequetly explained what exactly we are meant to be scared off.. Zombie films like this often have set ups which explain why the Zombie's exist, this film skips right past that and goes straight to the blood and gore. The central villina character which is supposed to be the explanation of why everything is happening never really develops into anything but a weak Macguffin for a wimpy finale which still doesn't exaplain why the Zombies appeared or why as an audience we should care....

Rotten tomoatoes sums things up well and the film has a current score of 8% fresh
Have to agree with another post here which questions the validity of the 5 star reviews...this is not a 'great' film... would be a stretch to even call it adequate.
Read the book and this felt very condenced and disjointed... character acting felt forced. Would highly recomend 'the stand' by King (both book and adaptation, even though it's dated now) or 'The Mist' as they are essentially the same in their apocalytic theme... but have a lot more 'umph!'

You might be disappointed

This is an odd one . I read the book first a while ago , and remember at the end of the book I thought 'well that was odd ' this film follows the book but in very condensed form , meaning a lot of the description and tension is lost .You don't get that attached to any of the characters and the jerky camera view at the start is just annoying . Worth a watch if you have read the book, but you may be disappointed if you are expecting a 'normal' Samuel L Jackson film . Oh and at the end of the film I still thought 'well that was odd ' !!!!

The reviews here simply must be fake. I am a big movie fan and I love Stephen King and the end of the world genre. That said, I am completely shocked that John Cusack and Samuel l Jackson put their name to this film. It is truly awful. Really, really bad. There is a reason this film is on iTunes whilst it is out at the cinemas (limited release I am sure) and that's because it is truly terrible and they need as many iTunes suckers to unwittingly rent it before the whole world knows the truth and so they stand a chance of paying at least the costs of its main stars (which must be impressive fees as they certainly didn't sign because of the script or production.
The people who have left positive reviews clearly work for the agencies promoting it.
This film will be free on streaming very soon. Do not watch even then.
