Description

Swallows and Amazons follows the Walkers, four children dreaming of an escape from the tedium of a summer holiday with their mother. When finally given permission to camp on their own on a remote island in the middle of a vast lake, they are overjoyed. But when they get there they discover they may not be alone... As they battle for ownership of the island, they learn the skills of survival and the value of friendship, which helps prepare them for the real danger they must face from the adult world. Steeped in the wonder of a child's imagination and set against the breath-taking backdrop of the Lake District, this is an exhilarating adaptation of a treasured classic.

It was a really good film. Tremendously exciting! It had really good characters. I don't know how anyone could rate this badly. Would recommend it for you... if you love adventures!

A prefect family film. Beautiful locations, wonderful music, delightful cast. All my children loved it and we all can't wait to go to see the Lake District.

Neither an acceptable adaptation of Ransome’s novel nor a well-made family movie. Fails on all levels. Avoid.

The story is loosely based on the famous "Swallow and Amazons" tale and I assume the speculations about Auther Ransome's (Captin Flint) life. It retains the atmosphere, even with the shoehorned spy thrill, of the original story. So I enjoyed the film but who was the idiot who renamed 'Titty' as 'Tatty'?

Classically British

Lovely British adventure for the family. Fun, exciting and emotional, great film to remember and reinvent childhood adventure.

Appalling.

A poor film at best but made worse by the use of the title of a well known children's story to gain credence. There is nothing else to say except that that the producers of this film should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. Plagiarism but only in respect of the title. For the rest of it it is best consigned to the archives of failures before it sees too much of the light of day.
