Description

In a colourless, post-apocalyptic futuristic society - known as The Collective - inhabitants have been genetically modified between conception and birth to be "emotion-free." Emotion, love, and sex have been outlawed and are considered dangerous to society with punishment of death for anyone breaking the law. Silas (Nicholas Hoult), an illustrator in The Collective, mysteriously starts experiencing feelings and finds himself drawn to his co-worker Nia (Kristen Stewart). As they desperately try to keep their feelings for each other secret, with the authorities closing in, they realise escape may be their only option.

Slow But Sure

Slow, but sure delivered everything I was hoping for, for when I saw the trailer. Bad reviews, well Rotten Tomatoes to be precise, made me steer clear of it, till one night I was just in the mood to try it when I read all these great reviews here on iTunes. I think the ones giving it 4 - 5 stars are absolutely right. A sublime film that I think the critics got wrong. So glad I watched it. Maybe I should thank the bad reviews as I went in, happy in the knowledge I was in for a slow ride. But I sure found it delivered a fantastic, compelling story, superbly acted, stunning visuals with an awesome soundtrack.

It's a very close to heart type of movies very emotional but superbly done. It is a romantic predictable story line but a must to watch. It takes a while to get going 20-30 mins..

Story line should have lasted 15 mins. Acting terrible. Why do people make movies like this....I guess if u wanna fall asleep whilst watching something. Or maybe it makes people who are feeling down, feel not so bad. The music, the acting, the storyline everything just bring u down to a space u don't wanna be at. A definite skip unless u feel like u want to be depressed!

I don't usually write reviews, but some the more critical comments on here really don't do this movie justice, it's certainly not a 1, 2 or 3 star - it's better than that. Just to rate a film down because it's been done before (and not necessarily better in my opinion) is missing the point. This is a well acted, strong story line that is thought provoking - and more importantly for a generation that may never have seen some of the older movies that are of a similar genre. Well worth a buy.

Equals IS sublime, one of the best Sci-F films I've seen in years. I suggest the critics misread this film. With beautiful economy Equals crackles with intensity, heightened by a hauntingly good sound track. Equals does what all great Sci-Fi films do - it makes you think about humanity. One to watch, at least twice.

underrated

I found this film deeply moving, not too far removed from the often lonely and alienating metropolitan/city lives, with its uber busy people, mostly operating from their heads and disconnected from their hearts. The real jewel though was the brilliant and so underrated Nicholas Hoult. He was described as someone who could be infinitely gentle with a capacity to be fierce. He is all that and so much more.

The film had a similar feel to the film Gattaca and is perhaps as good.
There was plenty of thrills and emotion and you really wanted a happy ending.
For me the only thing I needed was some clarity at the end of how the couple were going to live the rest of their lives. Were the feelings between them mutual?

Drake D does it again. Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult have crazy chemistry (both seem on a roll of great movies). Well worth a watch. For a movie about no feelings, it does bring the feels. I cried, laughed, hailed and screamed for all this movie. Loved!
