Description

One of the most terrifying and thrilling stories of World War II, Anthropoid follows two soldiers from the Czech army-in-exile, Josef Gabcík (Cillian Murphy) and Jan Kubis (Jamie Dornan), who are parachuted into their occupied homeland in December 1941. With limited intelligence and little equipment in a city locked down under Nazi occupation, they must find a way to assassinate Heydrich, the man many saw as Adolf Hitler's natural successor.

Heroic

Very atmospheric film with superb acting only ruined in my opinion by the difficulty I had trying to hear and understand the speech. But nevertheless a very good film and most certainly worth watching.

Quality with backing of realism

I could hear the movie clearly and listening to the fitting sound track behind. Clearly very brave men. It made me think about our world. Thank you.

Very good film - although brutal storyline

I knew this was a true story before I watched it but didn't know the story. Whilst at times it was quite difficult to follow the conversations as they speak in a hushed tone with fake Czech accents you get the general gist of what's being said. Quite dramatic and really made you think about history and just what it must have been like living in a country occupied by the Nazi's. Good acting and good special affects.

Worth Watching!!

Yes the speaking is a little mumbly but not impossible to hear. I think its a combination of the actors having to put on a Cech accent whilst still speaking English. The story line does not stray from the real events and does not hide any of the horrible crimes comitted. Very good movie. Great actors and a must seen especially if you enjoy your history.

steel yourself

Be preparared for a crushingly stark ending. This is no Hollywood soft peddle hero story. Fascinating, grim and true story of two Czech resistance fighters attempt to assassinate one of the most wicked of the Nazi elite.

Great second half

Really kicks in at the end and great true story. I saw it at the cinema and the sound quality was fine so I don't know if that's an iTunes problem or something oh well

Can't hear

I don't know why but it's really hard to hear the dialogue even with the volume turned up, no subtitles either. Just ruined what is supposed to be a good movie.

Dated and Poor - 'Funny Foreigners' Accents

Tawdry. This film should never have been made. Disservice to the Czech resistance. They fought the Nazis. They did not 'reezeezzz ze Naaazis'. 'Allo 'Allo style accents should be banned from films that think they are serious. The makers should pay penance in Prague at the memorial for those who assassinated Heydrich.

A Fitting and Respectful Tribute

Very well casted, acted and directed. A fitting tribute to to the men and women of the Czech Resistence who went bravely to their deaths having rid the world of the rabid animal that Heydrich was.

It is therefore a great pity that the sound engineers who put this film release together spoilt the production.

Fantastic story

A really good version of a fantastic story, however... it is hard hearing what the actors are saying ( had the volume up loud) so be prepared, Jamie Dornan is ok, his accent doesn't help the lack of sound..8/10
