This film is an emotional rollercoaster from start to end. From the amazingly different cinematography of individual perspectives to the real life clips of cctv and news- this film depicts the devastating events that happened in Boston on that fateful day. It was truly gripping and emotional throughout .
Even though you know what happens my heart was racing in some scenes and I was in tears throughout. I have been to Boston many times, been standing on that street near the finish line and watching this film takes me back to the heart of the city. Boston truly is a city of togetherness- the people are Boston strong.

Excellent and emotional

Great film which was as long as it needed to be to summarise this tragic event
The cowardly , worthless scum who committed this atrocity are losers in a game they could never win.
Time this warped thinking was permanently removed from this world .

LAUGHABLE "TV MOVIE" & "TOUGH GUYS"

Apart from the bad acting, the childish - and laughable - repetitive use of the F-word, the irritating shaky camerawork, the attempts of the actors to look really "manly" and "tough" and the nauseating "sensitive" scenes of the "tough guys" with their wives, this was a great movie (not).
I fast-forwarded - I watched - I fast-forwarded - I watched - I sighed.
If you want a great thriller without the unnecessary, formulaic, TV movie-esque luvvy-duvvy slop and clichés dolloped around, rent or buy the Oscar-winning Argo. Now THAT'S a movie!

Hardhitting, tense, emotional, very good

The acting from all the team in this movie is excellent. It feels like you are watching events unfold, which is quite heartbreaking at times, but also amazing film making.
It would have been better if terrorism never existed, we must pity those individuals who hurt, maim or kill others to feed their own ego, labelling it as 'god's will'. But in a world where such attrocities do exist, we need accurate storytelling and appreciation of love, hope and sheer determination for justice for anyone hurt.
This film managed to show all of that, without making it about religion or race.

Great ...a fitting tribute to the horror and bravery

Enjoyed this a lot and it really gave a sense of the events and professional way the police closed it out. Good film.

This film is an excellantly produced documentary drama, it introduces charecters central to the event well and walks the viewer through a chronological timeframe of events. It is not a Hollywood action film but doesnt shy away from including sufficient gore and violence as to set the scene. Lovely touch to include actual survivors and charecters testimony at the end. Well worth a watch, an emotional rollercoaster.

Even though the storyline is obvious, as it was
all over the news at the time, the film is brilliant!

There is so much in this story you never knew.

Wow, eye opening film. We all knew the Boston bombs, but what went on before and after is very revealing and this film taught me things I never had heard about. There is one hero from China who was so brave. He should be with the girl of his dreams.

Great Movie! A bit Slow Paced

A brilliant movie, nice actors for the roles for me fealt like they covered all the bases however it does get a bit slow paced and drags out a bit at some points in the movie but other than that the movie represents that dreadful day and is worth the buy!

Must watch

Saw this in the cinema and was a great watch. The fact that it was based on truth give it an extra level of both drama and sadness. At the end when they showed the victims from the actual event and where they are now, it had all of the room in tears. I sat there for around 10 minutes after the film finished to compose myself and reflect. It is a well done film and as normal MW was on fire, he helped give the film a respectful version of events/story of that dreadful day.

A very tense but recommended watch

Like his previous film Deepwater Horizon, Peter Berg's Patriots Day re-creates a terrifying real-life event using cinematic techniques to make you feel like you are there, but also like DH, because it focusses on the people involved -on all sides- and their everyday humanity it is never exploitive or a dumb flag waving exercise, and I think that's a very hard thing to get right. It isn't for everyone; it is a very tense film -more like a horror film- for it's entire running time, not only because we know what is going to happen (and when they do they are every bit as horrifying as they should be), but the film doesn't let up the sense of threat and urgency in the aftermath of the bombing and the ensuing manhunt; there is never any doubt that these two men, with families and lives of their own, are very dangerous and intent on hurting others. I came away from this film not only knowing more about the event and the people involved, but shaken by it's violence and very moved by the human stories that emerged. Watch it and see what you think and feel.
