Description

Four Finnish cave divers face their worst nightmare when two of their friends drown deep inside an underwater cave in Norway. When the official recovery operation is called off by the Norwegian and British authorities after being deemed too risky, the friends set out on a secret mission to retrieve the bodies themselves. Diving Into the Unknown isn't just the dramatic story of a life-threatening mission. It is also a story about unconditional friendship that truly runs deep. While each member of the team has years of experience exploring dangerous deep-sea caves, together they are about to face the biggest challenge of their lives.

Compulsive and Sensitive

A beautiful, intense and moving tribute by a group of diving friends to their two lost companions. One cannot help but be struck by the grit, the determination, the courage and the sense of duty these men and women showed in overcoming their profoundly traumatic experiences to return the bodies of their friends to their loved ones. A really superb documentary that makes you think hard about the strength of the human spirit.

A compelling true story

This is a must watch for fans of high risk sport docs like Touching the Void. It's an inspirational story of friendship. Very moving too...

Inspired camaraderie

After just watching this inspired film, you witness the power behind the compulsion of not leaving a brother behind.
The film was a little more gritty than I had expected, but it does give a complete overview of the events that took place before, during and after the accident happened.
I have dived a few basic caves and have a first hand knowledge of just how addictive this type of diving can be.
This is a great film, well put together and is well worth watching, you do have to remember though, that it’s a documentary and is quite harrowing in places.
