What if, in the wake of more than a decade of devastating weather events, we finally found a way to control Mother Nature and the destruction her tirades entail? When catastrophic climate change endangers Earth’s very survival, world governments unite and create Project Dutch Boy: a global net of satellites surrounding the planet that are armed with geo-engineering technologies designed to stave off the natural disasters. After successfully protecting the planet for two years, something is starting to go wrong. Two estranged brothers (Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess) are tasked with solving the program’s malfunction before a worldwide geostorm can engulf the planet.

Disaster (of a) movie

Quite an accomplishment - and not in a good way. Amazing actors. Huge budget. Access to great CGI. And literally the worst, hum-drum, tedious, non thrilling movie we have seen in years. Avoid avoid avoid.

Childish tripe

Catching a ride on the ever present issue that is global warming this film’s spins some phooey about man’s control of Mother Nature with some sci-fi twaddle that falls into the wrong hands. The CGI looks familiar, monster waves, Jumbos crashing, etc.,and the plot’s untidy and cheaply put together. If I’d seen this in the cinema I would of walked out.

Rely on every done cliche and do nothing original.

I like this genre but this is a new low.

It looks like the studio got nervous and pulled the plug on the SFX, which would make sense at it lostthe producers $100 million.

If you want to see cities being destroyed see 2012 or San Andreas.

Not so good!I

I paid £13.99 for this movie and I can honestly say it wasn't worth the money.

Gerald Butler is a great actor but this movie is probably one of his worst.

The story line was 'Okay' and the acting from the 2 x brothers in the movie was decent enough but the rest was below average 'In my opinion'.

Also the special effects were terrible and felt cheap.

Unbelievably bad!

I still can’t believe how bad this film was, I kept wondering whether I was watching a syfy copy movie, but to be honest I think if syfy did make a version of this it would 1,000,000 x better!

Wow!!! This film is absolute clown shoes.

Poor script, wooden acting, dreadful dialogue and incredibly over the top and unconvincing VFX obviously done by the office junior. Save your 13.99 and swerve this one.

Great film

Personally I liked the film some of the actors I was not keen on, enjoyed seeing Gerard Butler the CGI was brilliant liked the storyline. Is very different to the standard doomsday movies nowadays the price is a bit high I’d prefer it to be about £11 but you do get the 4K version which most people forget. Overall not a bad movie at all was not mind blowing but not crap

Bad casting and direction

I think it is frustrating that this was NOT a good movie after advertising the promising concept for an epic disaster movie. I didn’t like the casting and everyone looked out of place in just about every scene with no one acting with any conviction. Lack of camera direction led to scenes not linking properly and the special effects become cut scenes that could have appeared in any movie, they just didn’t relate to what was going on. It just becomes annoying and you will end up either not caring what is happening or preferably, falling asleep.

Its ok, decent CGI/action, but of course completely unbelievable. Jim Sturgess comes across fairly woodenly, and what is that haircut all about ? Butler ok in his usual save the world tough guy role. supporting cast not given much of a look in, in terms of character development. I made it all the way through.. didn't just hit stop half way, so bearable is about as good as it gets.

Good popcorn movie

If you don’t want to have to think too hard, to just engage in a bit of escapism and you can suspend your disbelief for a couple of hours - this is good fun. Great effects, fast pace. Enjoy.

Not as bad as some reviews, but still very average.

Not your typical disaster movie, since a lot of the movie takes place in space. And I guess the characters didn't do much for me, so I wasn't as invested in them as I should have been. But, it was okay! Not a terrible movie by any means. But certainly not worth spending £14 on.

Definatly a put your brain in to idle and simply enjoy the movie for what it is, an enjoyable piece of non-sense. Anyone trying to look for some deeper meaning will be disappointed.

Good disaster filn

Just been cinema to see this film. It had good fast paced scenes as the action built up tenson was. Good between the two brothers Just a really good filn like other disaster films i films like these are always better at the cinema. Because of the big noises like big bangs when something happens decide for yourself. If you likev these films
