Description

Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson (Saoirse Ronan) fights against but is exactly like her wildly loving, deeply opinionated and strong-willed mum (Laurie Metcalf), a nurse working tirelessly to keep her family afloat after Lady Bird’s father (Tracy Letts) loses his job. Lady Bird is an affecting look at the relationships that shape us, the beliefs that define us, and the unmatched beauty of a place called home.

'Lady Bird' is a classic in the making, a beautiful journey back to 2002. From start to finish I was absolutely mesmerised with... well everything. Greta Gerwig is a groundbreaking director, for her first directorial debut is spellbinding. Not only did she create a flawed yet likeable protagonist but a dynamic one too. Would recommend this to everyone.

I’m a twenty-two, white, English male. I was somewhat trepidatious going into Gerwig’s Lady Bird and feeling on the back foot of any emotional connection. It took me all of two minutes, and I was undoubtedly hooked. Gerwig’s film tells the glorious tale of naive adolescent individuality. Anyone over the age of eighteen will be devastatingly observant, and ultimately heartfelt when Gerwig shows you all the mistakes you’ve ever made, with of-course a dark melancholy edge. Gloriously witty and addictive, regards to a perfect screenplay and performance from Ronan, who embodies the titular character, as if I’ve known her all my life.
