This is one of the best Star Wars films ever made! It has a exciting plot, great action, stunning visuals and many more amazing features. Would recommend to all who love Star Wars!

Really poor.

It had the feel about it, that everyone working on it thought it would be successful because it’s a Star Wars movie, whether they put an effort in or not.

Its all getting boring now.

Enough is enough. The life has been squeezed out of this franchise and it has become stale.

Pleasantly Suprised!

Having Rented this I was pleasantly surprised by this film. It filled the backstory of Han in a sympathetic and believable way. Really enjoyed this film, the stand-alone stories are so much better than the new trilogy.

Really enjoyed - which was a surprise

Shockingly and to my absolute surprise I really enjoyed this movie and as a 80s child and Star Wars lover, who hated the recent episode 8!!! This was okay and fun, I even enjoyed it more that rogue 1! Maybe I just watched it in a good mood. Or maybe it’s because I did not pay 50£+ in a cinema, with adverts.. Watched it at home instead and only paid 14£.

Good but not as good as rogue one.

It’s good but not as good as rogue one to many famous faces to be an original Star Wars movie for my liking. But I think will spawn a couple more good Han Solo movies. Good ending but the middle bit is a bit weird after the Hans reunites with his love. There’s an obvious question he should be asking and doesn’t. That’s annoying.

Give it up

The original trilogy still stands apart from all those that have followed it, and all those that have, suffer the comparison. The Laurel and Hardy act of C3PO and R2D2 has never been bettered, the wit, pathos and good vs evil script likewise. The casting and performances that makes the unbelievable believable. The balancing act of story vs special effect sequences remains unsurpassed. Solo: A Star Ways Story doesn't match any of these qualities, yet on its own merit, it's OK. Just, OK.

A lot better than anticipated. A great fun, light hearted 'romp'. Star Wars without the slightly overbearting serious side some recent ones have had. Loved it. Rent or buy it, you know you want to...

Star Wars has descended into mediocrity. It was just ok, inoffensive and bland. The story didn’t add anything to the ST universe and just ended feeling completely unnecessary.
I would discourage anyone from watching it, but I wouldn’t encourage either it’s just meh.

Boring and annoying

I struggeld to stay awake in this boring, poorly plotted and insubstantial film. Wasted energy trying to figure out what the characters were trying to achieve. Not even remotely exciting or amusing. A poor attempt to cash in on a waning franchise. Han Solo is a shadow of the character in the original star wars movies. Musical score a constant annoyance throughout. One star is being generous. Avoid this like the plague.

Love it!

I can’t understand the high reviews, this film really is hard to finish watching it’s so dull, over dramatic music and just CGI. I really liked the other latest star wars films but this is lacking. I think the main character solo is played by an actor with zero charisma. Wait until its free on tv I say.

I'm a big fan of the orginals and really didn't like the last three installments of the franchise, but I did enjoy this one. It doesn't try to be like the origninals and goes down it's own path. It's good fun and likeable. It should please the majority of Star Wars fans young and old.

Another good Star Wars story

I enjoyed most of this film. The effects were good and some of the acting was fine. However I think star wars fatigue is setting in and it’s starting to show in the quality of the films. The story was a bit weak and slow and the pacing was off. It’s worth a watch but that’s about it it won’t be in my star wars go to collection.

I had a feeling this film would be bad, but I had to watch it, being a SW fan. The main problem for me, the pacing is relentless, feels like they had too many plot points to tick off. For example, we start with a love affair between Han and Quira, that lasts all of 5 minutes before they're tragically parted. Then he joins the imperial navy and gets kicked out (this scene was apparently deleted), ends up in the infantry, meets various other characters, there's a string of action scenes, then after what feels like 20 or 30 minutes of film (I think it was meant to be a period of many years?) he's reunited with Quira. There should have been a big emotional payoff with this scene, but it was all like, "Oh hi, fancy meeting you here."
There's no emotional depth, lots of silly lore being ticked off as we go (why he's called Solo? Check. Kessel run? Check. Lando? Check. The Falcon? Check. Losing something or other to Lando in a game of space-poker? Check. Those stupid ret-conned dice? Check). Add an unoriginal plot, double crossing, way too many minor characters, and we have a mess.
I suspect the screenplay was chopped and changed. Probably a succession of writers working on it. Too much of a focus on action over character. Kind of felt like all the other superhero movies that came out this year. I'm tired of them, too.

Amazing cast! Fantastic storyline! Beautiful creatures! And a little face we’ve seen in every movie since Return Of The Jedi!
One of the greatest Star Wars movie to be made! If you don’t like this movie... You’re wrong! It really helps bridge the gap between Episode 3 and Episode 4!

We are all sceptical about watching the last jedi and I understand that many feel betrayed and let downby the lack of story movement and the missing thrill of previous star wars movies (despite the fact that I am willing to forgive it as a true loyal star wars fan). However, this film truly lives up to how star wars should be being presented now! It's modern, but still holds true to the characters we know and love. I felt the star wars feel right from the beginning and it took us further into the star wars universe than ever before. The acting is perfection, the cinematics spellbinding and the story keeps you hanging on to the end, with some great reveals and a wonderful way to reveal the events spoken of in the original movies. This is how star wars would have felt like for those who saw the originals for the first time. Nowadays we expect more and we have been given more! Well done to the men and women who brought us this gripping evocative movie to our screens!

Ignore those who think this is bad!

I really wasn’t sure about this film. After TLJ which was a big disappointment to me. Surely this film won’t be up to much. How wrong was I. I loved it. Loved the story, the characters, pretty much everything. They were spot on with the actor they chose as Solo. He was perfect for this role. I will be watching this many times. 👍

So that's how...

Want to "find out" how Han got his surname? Why Chewie is called Chewie? The origins (for Solo) of the Falcon. Then step this way. But want to be bored? Then step this way also. It's not great and to be honest the acting is terrible and parts of the script dreadful. If you're a Star Wars super fan then this should be on your list to watch. Otherwise don't bother.

Finally got around to watching this last night and really enjoyed it. I was sceptical due to the disappointment over the Last Jedi, production issues and box office back lash. That said sit back and enjoy a fun family movie.
I hope this does well on home release and they continue the story. It would be shame if we don’t finish the story arc.
Well done 👍

A real surprise this. After the crushing disappointment of The Last Jedi this was far, far better than I anticipated. A captivating story with a perfect cast, it absolutely delivered. This is what Star Wars is all about. Best one since The Empire Strikes Back.

I really liked the actors, and naturally loved the characters, but the ruth is this felt like part of a far longer made for TV drama. The story's arc was very flat and low. Did any of this really matter...? I so wanted to enjoy this...and it is enjoyable, the same way an old episode of any other TV series with action, some spaceships etc is fun, but was there any depth? Nope. Did it feel like the stoey meant something, or had to be told? Nope.
It felt like a weaker episode from Game of Thrones, well made, but.....
I guess Disney is doing a Netflix and just churning out too much content, too fast.
Slow down guys, do less and give us real stories we care about.

Really loved this. I was hesitant because of negative feedback from critics and so delayed watching. This film massively exceeded expectations thanks to a surprisingly strong cast, brilliant acting, fast paced plot and solid links into Han Solos life. I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that Rogue 1 and now Solo have set the bar high for the main franchise to emulate.

This will never be a classic but is a very under rated entry into the Star Wars canon. It is what it is ... a fun movie and suffered from being released so soon after the divisive Last Jedi. I really do hope that we see more of Aden as Han. A tough act to take on a character that is connected to Harrison. But I never once doubted that Adan was Han. An excellent performance from him and all the cast for that matter.

I really enjoyed Solo it’s a romp. Lots of action, great production values, and all the elements that make a Star Wars movie. If your looking for a bit of escapism it’s a fun ride, if your expecting deep and meaningful look elsewhere. The cast carry off their various roles smoothly and I had no problem accepting a new Han.
Remember it’s just a film, made for people like us by other very talented people (who just want to entertain despite toxic fandom).
I myself hope it does really well in home video sales. It certainly didn’t deserve all the negativity and did deserve to do better at the box office. Nothing is perfect, let’s just take it for what it is. A solid piece of entertainment that despite the apparent poor box office (poor is relative) should be given the chance to get a sequel.
Get the popcorn out and watch it.
