Description

TIME TRIAL gives us an exhilarating and terrifying place in the race, providing an immersive experience as close to actually competing as you will ever see on film. David Millar, shrouded in darkness, declares an intention to rise again. A sensory ride through the thrill and hardship of professional cycling. We are hurtled off a hillside, details blurring like watercolours. The euphoria and the fatigue, the highs and the lows. It's as if it were ourselves struggling through the bumpy roads of France. David bluntly and fearlessly narrates his last season in the saddle, intimate and immediate, along with the intricate relationships of cyclist, road crew, fellow competitors, manic fans, and the media circus surrounding it all.

So i have watched many a cycling documentary in my time (A Sunday in Hell, the acidental death of a cyclist, out of the saddle etc.) and this film is way off the pace. I am not a Fan of David Millar, i find him arrogant and glib however i thought i would give this film a chance as i love cycling.
The issue for me is that cycling takes a back seat in this film, all we see is a moody, churlish Millar coming to terms with the fact his career is over. I struggled to fathom how this can be classed as a documentary, there are voids of nothing but awful sounding music that would be at home in Guantanimo bay it's that painful.
I really feel i have been ripped off in paying £9.99 for this film it's that bad, the highlight were the limited conversations between riders in the peleton, and the stunning scenery. I doubt Millar will care but if i were him i would be as ashamed of this as the doping that tarnished his career. IT REALLY IS THAT BAD!

Underwhelming

I had been looking forward to this for so long but after being unable to get to one of the live screenings I’m pretty glad I missed it as the film was seriously underwhelming and massively overhyped from the publicity.
I’m usually a fan of Millar but to be honest this film changed my opinion. Whilst some great shots of the Giro and racing life can be seen the dwindling career of Millar is rather quite dull to watch.
Such a shame as it had loads of potential. The usual fan boys will lap it up though.

...raised to art. A great film that shows the harshness of cycling as a sport and a season too far for David Millar. Great photography, great sound. Alternative entertainment particularly if you follow or take part in the sport.

Boring load of nonsense

Beautifully shots of the Giro but ultimately a terrible film.
I've never seen such a depressing miserable film about such a beautiful sport.
It shows David in the last year of his professional career swearing and complaining to everyone and generally totally done with the whole thing.
Get some perspective David! Come on! Try living in Slough and working a crappy, underpaid office job with steadily deteriorating health like the average 37 year old with a sedentary lifestyle. You are a wealthy and successful athlete who gets paid to ride his bike. I don't want to see you crying about it. Even if you are retiring from racing you still have a career ahead of you writing, presenting and generally following the sport which so many people would kill to be able to do.
All I learnt from this film is David needs some help psychologically.
