Description

In the future, prisons have been turned into online portals where paying subscribers get to vote on what felons eat, watch, wear and who they fight. Panopticon TV is so successful it is about to be rolled out to a whole new town. When the world’s most downloaded felon escapes, the authorities set a trap to reel him in. The bait is his little brother who has so far managed to avoid detection.

Dark future up for grabs

DIVISION 19 takes on many subjects; surveillance, State control, wanton consumerism, media manipulation, mental health issues (both in prisoners and robots) and a whole host of subjects which could fill a 12-part TV series. While it’s maybe a lot to stuff into 90 minutes, it is all carried out with some style. A smart thriller which has a lot to say about a non too distant, alarming future that we are blindly walking towards.
