After a slow start where more of the comedy misses, rather than hits, MiB: International does build to quite an enjoyable film, if a little too familiar to the previous ones.
Hemsworth and Thompson make a good pairing (like they did in Thor: Ragnarok) and I did particularly like Rebecca Ferguson’s three armed arms dealer and that whole section of the film set on her Mediterranean island.
On the negative side, except for moving the narrative globally, there’s nothing here that is that different to what has already been done in the first three movies.
I really wanted to like this film, as I’ve always loved the concept of the MiB franchise. But I have to admit that I felt a little underwhelmed when I left the cinema.
I do hope, however, that it does well enough at the box office to get a sequel, as I would love to see another adventure for Agents H & M (and Pawnie) in the future.
