Arthouse Masterpiece
Seen this film three times in cinema and cannot wait for it to be released here on digital. Joaquin Phoenix is pure and compelling on screen. The camera follows beau’s distrait emotions that he creates through static thoughts of grief, guilt and desperation to be seen and heard. It was completely riveting to experience Joaquin take on such a dishevelled and virtuous role. What i must highly praise is the animation sequence in the third chapter. It is almost completely dream-like as beau goes on his maladaptive fantasy odyssey to discover his own paths into the future, if he could escape the trauma of his mother’s manipulation. It’s a film filled with depth that will hurt your head as you try to piece together the pure mystery of Ari Aster’s next cinematic arthouse masterpiece.
