Description

From the Director of Top Gun and Enemy of the State comes an unbelievable action-thriller set against a world of global intrigue, starring Academy Award winners Robert Redford and Brad Pitt. On the verge of retirement, CIA office Nathan Muir is called back into action when he learns that his one-time protégé, Tom Bishop, is in deep trouble, trapped in a foreign prison on a charge of espionage and scheduled to die in 24 hours. With the CIA deciding a rescue is too much of a risk, Muir must work against agency politics to free Bishop from his captors.

You don’t play the game; the game plays you

Although it’s his brother Ridley who gets most of the acclaim, Tony Scott was a much more consistent and entertaining director. This fast-paced, entertaining and ultimately even moving thriller tracks the relationship between a novice spy and his veteran mentor. Casting Brad Pitt and Robert Redford is canny stuff, and they both rise up to the occasion as two men who’s principles begin to differ as their mutual respect grows. Set against a ticking clock, this stylish, tense and thoughtful thriller is deserving of your time.

One of my favourite movies of all time

Hugely underrated movie. Quality cast, good storyline. Genuinely decent film which is sadly lacking nowadays.
Very much recommend.
