Saw at cinema. First half of the movie is just sheer pleasure. You could call it ‘Paul and the fremen have lots of fun in the desert’.

Then we have the evil Harkonnen section, which is impressive albeit horrible. This takes us to about 3/4 of the way.

And then…it feels like they realised they had run out of time and needed to wrap things up very quickly. The final battle feels strangely flat and rushed. So too the big finale fight - which seemed oddly low excitement, even if well done. By the time we get to the end it feels like the filmmaker was tired of the whole thing, or perhaps it was just due to some very harsh editing to reduce the runtime?

Overall, still 5 stars. It’s a true epic experience. Beautiful production and camera work. A solid adaptation of Dune. But….you really want to see Part Three…because it feels like the narrative arc is really only half done. Let’s hope we see it.

An extraordinary movie. Truly legendary…

Dune part 2 is the best movie of 2024.

Save your money, go watch the original 1984 Dune and read the books and ignore this woke fest of cringe. If yuou thought the first of this modern DUNE was cardboard and wooden all over, this dails it up even more.

It’s serious and intense. Fantastic acting and visually groundbreaking. Very excited for more from the Dune universe.

those who did not read the book will like this, likewise if you read the books you will note many of the best parts are missing.
