Description

Vowing to go straight, a recidivist convenience store bandit H.I. (Nicolas Cage) proposes marriage to police department photographer Ed (Holly Hunter), whom he's come to know quite well after so many trips to jail. All is wedded bliss for the unlikely couple until they discover she's unable to get pregnant. Turned down by every adoption agency in town thanks to H.I.'s rowdy past, it does not take long before they realize the only solution--kidnap one of the town's celebrated "Arizona Quintuplets" and hit the road! But the road is never smooth, and soon H.I.'s convict friends, his greedy boss and a ruthless motorcycle-riding bounty hunter become involved in the scheme to possess the famous baby.

Joel and Ethan Coen, the best filmakers to walk the planet? Most probably! And this film proves my point. This film is fantastic, funny all over and not just small gags (that last for one second) that you laugh once and that's it. In this you get 10 minute chase sequences that makes you laugh out loud at how hilarious it is. This is the first Coen Brothers' comedy film, and their second feature film all together. If you have seen Blood Simple, then you will be amazed how this film is so different from that. This is hilarious and heartwarming, Blood Simple is violent and the only hilarious scene in the whole film, is the credits because of the music chosen to end the film. Both films are genius, this is by far better AND challenges The Big Lebowski as the greatest comedy ever.

This is a film on par with the likes if Some Like It Hot. Fantastic performances by the cast, brilliant direction, a funny clever original story, all magically cinematographed in an iconic American West setting.

Difficult second movie hurdle cleared in street shoes by Cohen Brothers.

A great movie by Los Bros Cohen; surreal, darkly comic and with some outstanding performances, particuarly Nicholas Cage, whose portrayal of the genially bumbling H.I. must surely have influenced Jason Lee in My Name is Earl.
And what's with those matching Roadrunner tattoos?
