wow this movie is a standard that most movies of such class struggle to follow. great story, entraining and best yet a sequel to follow.

A brilliant over the top movie, the cinematography is unique, action scenes amazing and butlers Paisley accent perfect for the role.

He says make it more realistic, thats like watching a superman movie and saying its not very realistic, its a movie about 300 of the finest warriors against 10,000 men, people just dont seem to understand this movie for the greatness what it is

I really don't see why this has had any good reviews. Its over produced, tacky, predictable and terrible. Really, its worse than Clash of the Titans. Riddled with cliches, this is so very very bad. Trust a lone voice of (adult?) reason. DO NOT BUY - you will be more sorry than if you were an extra wearing leather panties and shouting SPARTA!! every 5 minutes. I regret that any attempts at conveying the honour and bravery of the 300, was entirely lost under groans at the abysmal script, hopeless directing, and the simple awfulness of the film. It is pants. That it does have - 300 pairs of Spartan ones, and many many Persian ones. Xerxes's are gold. Oh the memory of it…. just sooooo baaaaad.

This movie is amazingly done, it defines the bravery and discipline of the Spartans at that time. Although some of it is not 100% historically accurate, it is an amazing action film and deserves 5 star reviews. THIS IS SPARTA!!!!! :)

Absolutely amazing film. Frank Miller brings his classic vivid take on Greek mythology to create a testosterone filled, muscle packed "Man's man's" Epic. Great mix of modern CGI and incredible cinematography, with elements of traditional Greek story telling.

Rented this on my Apple TV and absolutely loved the HD Quality. Would love to be able to buy this film in HD, but as always iTunes content is highly restricting.

Look forward to the days when Both renting and buying are available in both HD and SD, from any device, from any Store, not just the US.

Didn't agree with the depiction of the Persians though. The thing about Persians being deformed and homosexuals was incorrect and a little offensive. Spartans are known for their man/boy love, it was their tradition as a means to toughen boys from a young age.

Since purchasing this movie for Iphone 4s I can't watch cos it stalls constantly/sound drops out etc tried rebooting to no avail!!

Imagination girl the didn't move because Spartans always wanted the best even the best children also they didn't have Calvary because Spartan Calvary doesn't exist ! That would make it unrealistic and it's spelt sense and finally change your name if you don't have enough imagination to appreciate such a good film you hypocritical fool!!!!!

I'm not really one for violent films but I really liked this. It's obviouisly not my favourite film in the world, but it's really good. It's a very manly film (perfect for dad or your brother or boyfriend). I loved the action and well.. they did a really good job.

Great film , actually my favourite film, but what is with the price you can get this film from most shops in hard copy form , which means more cost as materials are involved not to iTunes, for less u pay more interesting concept let's sort this out and more costume may come your way.

This is honestly the worst movie I have seen in the last 30 years. Not even bad enough to be funny.

No suspense, no acting, poor use of a great story, and CGI so overused it could have been a cartoon.

I hope I never see anything this bad in the next 30 years.

To imaginationgirl, the wolf he kills is symbolic to drawing a far larger force than leonidas and using the advantage of the ground to channel the wolf to his death, just like the spartans did at thermoplyae. It wasn't obvious but it sets the scene.

Light. First the wolf at the begining of the story was completly unrealistic, it was the wrong size and shape, plus wolves don't attack humans for nouthing. They could have at least used a real wolf it shouldn't be too hard for a film company to find animal actors.

Second very few men have six packs, you have to exersize more and practice fighting less.

Thirdly people would have the sence to move out of Sparta than have a baby there and not be sure wether the people will let them live and make their sons go through all that pertentually fatal training unless they were so hoplessly brainwashed.

Forthly why didn't the film company only give the enamy a cavalry and not both sides?

And finaly why wasn't the widow greaving when she found out her husband was dead?

Over all for me it was ok bu they could have done better, they should have made it more realistic and beliveable.

This is a terrible film my nan can brake dance better than this film. P.S. Who ever called it epic my nan challenges your nan to a fight.

If you ignore the blatant racism, silly dialogue and idiotic political undercurrent it doesn't even look as good as reported elsewhere. No sense of space or location in the battle scenes which are of course the centrepiece of this. You always feel the stage and the bluescreen.

this film is great i defy any man not to love this movie it gets the blood flowing for real felt like i could take on the persians when i left the cinema lol

I always find it hard to place my finger on what it is which makes me want to watch this film over and over. However I believe this is possibley because there are so many contributing factors that make it so magnificent, which unfortunately many films lack. There is no drastic movement in scenery yet the action through out the film is something all good movies should have and the soundtrack just adds to the excitment. Truely a stunning piece of work which any action lover should watch.

There is only one word to describe this film...Brilliant!!!

That 300 pays tribute to the honour of the fabled 300 handpicked warriors of a prototype communist state called Sparta is, to my mind, a great achievement. Any movie that manages to capture any amount of the Victorian esprit de corps is worthy of note. The Spartans did indeed live in a state of battle-readiness, even their womenfolk fought; as this film evokes though does not quite fully embrace. As for admonishments about the six-packs, or the grotesqueness of the Persian foe such things are offered up as part of an overall style. The film is about the honour and duty of these brave warriors.

The battle of Thermopylae actually happened and is an inspiration to anyone looking for courage and a determination to self-rule, regardless of the price. I love this film for the simple reason that heroic myth/storytelling from the Greek past has always fascinated and compelled me and this is one of the few rare movies that has encapsulated that essence of sheer mythic heroism.

Gerard Butler chews the scenery as King Leonidas, and gives the role a punchy, almost leftfield, swagger. I actually believe that he could in fact convince 299 of the best and bravest take arms against a veritable sea of foes. Such simple sentiment must be as true today as it was then. Let's hope so at any rate. As good as Leonidas- is his stalwart companion none other than Farimir (from Lord of the Rings) what more could you ask for.

Hopefully now someone, somewhere will make amends for Troy (The Iliad), and who knows we may even get a decent Odysseus rather than some made for tv thing.

My local store is selling the film at £5, with some places selling as a retro for £3. Where is the incentive guys?? We are using less material, there are next to no overheads for the sale, so why are we paying more!!!! Too many middlemen taking a slice!!!!!

I think £6.99 is a decent price for movies considering it is Itunes. Before Itunes put films up I bought this movie for about £13, and that is the average price for movies in shops like Virgin Megastores or HMV.

A true epic for filming history. I've seen this movie about 10 times and it doesnt get dull. Finally Apple have managed to get movies onto Ipods for the UK. This is a great film for any fan of action films who has an Ipod

This is not my normal sort of film, but having been recommended it I decided to buy on DVD. I was very pleasnantly supriesed actually. The story is not in itself that intense, but the way it's all pulled together with some excellent camera/CGI to boost some of the battle scenes as well as good character acting, is 1st class.

The main Spartan leader carries off the role in a believable way and you do find yourself smiling, grimissing and clenching your fist in all the right places! If you liked Gladitor (as I did) you may well like this. Be warned though, not for the faint hearted during battle moments! I do find myself demonstrating my sound system to my friends during the, 'THIS... IS... SPARTERRR!" pit moment... you'll see what I mean!

A very good film, cannot be appreciated in bad quality. It is well worth the money and will keep you on the edge of your seat; if you like a good action film.

i saw this film at the cinema 3 times, sad i know, but the point is that this film altho is good on a big screen, cant be that great on an ipod screen i wouldnt buy it to watch on my ipod, but i would for my appletv, prices are okay aswell !
