Description

In Arizona in the late 1800's, infamous outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) and his vicious gang of thieves and murderers have plagued the Southern Railroad. When Wade is captured, Civil War veteran Dan Evans (Christian Bale), struggling to survive on his drought-plagued ranch, volunteers to deliver him alive to the "3:10 to Yuma", a train that will take the killer to trial. On the trail, Evans and Wade, each from very different worlds, begin to earn each other’s respect. But with Wade’s outfit on their trail – and dangers at every turn – the mission soon becomes a violent, impossible journey toward each man's destiny.

Rented this last night and i'm pleased to report it delivered a very entertaining couple of hours. This is a western from the old skool - everything about it is grizzled and captures the spirit of the time. Crowe gives a good performance as the well mannered but vicious killer and Bale is equally steady as the down on his luck farmer/former soldier trying to do the right thing for his family. The story moves along at a good pace and all the characters are believable and engaging. If you're a western fan, this would be a great addition to your collection. If not, I still recommend renting it and seeing what's on offer. I was very impressed.

I see this film got one bad review, if its anywhere as good as the 1960s original then it will be up there with the best.

I really enjoyed this film. It's not as good as unforgiven but still a great movie. Russell Crowe is his usual enigmatic self. He has great screen presence and the movie would be less without him

Incredible!

This film is amazing. I got it from love film thinking it would be an alright movie, and I expected Christian Bale to be average at western, but I was wrong I could think of any improvements on this film. I love it!!

A cracking western with great performances from Crowe and Bale. The story of a stoic family man who is put in the position of hero when he is called upon to escort naughty Crowe to a train (the 3.10 to Yuma) so that he can stand trial for all his naughtiness. Trying to rescue him from good-guy Bale's clutches are Crowe's gang - headed up by the excellent Ben Foster. It's a gripping journey full of tension and meaty gunfights - and a journey during which both men learn that they're not so different after all.
