Absolutely brilliant.
A classic cult anime with lovable aqnd believable characters. Throughout the story, it is the characters which drive Parika's plot along. That and our need to know how theirstory turns out.
The development is well paced and the script is realistic, helping the viewer to identify with the characters and the love story.
Paprika uses an artful mix of montages and straight scenes to build up a good plot which has enough to thrill anyone old enough to understand the significance of death. I wouldn't recommend it for other viewers as the action borders on horror in certain parts and may frighten the young'ns (an excellent example is that of the parade which I know scared my little sister).
One of the greatest parts of Paprika is its score. Susumu Hirasawa has outdone himself on a Soundtrack which is at once futuristic, eerie and uses Japanese to remind us of the films' origins.
Unfortunately, I feel the plot was a little thin nearer to the end of the film when Paprika must effectively save the world. This is not a major problem asit picks it's self up in a dignified manner and continues to entertain us.
With a plot like Parika's, it would've been easy to lose sense of what is going on though this is not a problem in Paprika.
A thoroughly enjoyable watch.
