I hate this movie, however I may be negatively biased towards it since i have to sit an exam based on the text and this was the film we were shown, so I'll link this to exams

And the fight scenes are terrible

I think baz has done a very modern twist which I like, such as broadsword is the company of the guns. It had good action the right amount of romance it had everything I had expected and I prefer it to the Zeffirelli version.

But that's just my opinion buy it yourself, see what you think.

Was studying it in School, and the moment I watched the film bit by bit each in my class I loved it, Worth every penny, I've nearly cried at this film loads of times lol :)

This is an incredible film. It captures the essence of original Shakespeare with timeless classicism and additional humour and passion. The acting is sensational although I wasn't 100% sure about Claire Danes. However, worth every penny!!

I have seen so many different versions of Romeo and Juliet , but this one truly grips the sadness of all the deaths and the reality of their love for each other. It was a great idea to modernise it but keep the same script made by Shakespeare, I always cry my eyes out at this (partly because it reminds me of Titanic) but because it's so realistic and gripping!

I really liked this film. I think they did I really good modern version on it and I was upset at the end. I think they say the story line really well and making people Learn about the play too. Really GOOD!!!!!

Fabulous film with an amazing cast, I always cry every time I watch it!

Remember watching this in high school for first time and thinking this movie is so beautiful. I also remember how although it was in Shakespearian I could understand through the amazing performances in the portrayal of love and hate. I later went on to read the play and gradually learnt to understand the dialogue which made the movie experience that much better. Baz luhrmann is a genius and for those of you that may not watch the film due to the dialogue consider this. Do you not appreciate the beauty of a Rose regardless of the fact that you may not know how it came to be so beautiful i.e the process. It's a wonderful film so be open minded and I hope you enjoy it. For those of you that may not like it thats cool. We can't all like the same thing :)

It is such a grate film it is truly amazing !!!!!

Absolutely brilliant, I cried buckets, the music is wonderful and the acting is incredible, seeing it in a film instead of on a stage makes it seem all the more dramatic and tragic, especially when Juliet actually wakes up before Romeo dies and watches him take the poison! How anyone could find this boring, even if they don't like Shakespeare is beyond me! It's a brilliant way of helping people relate to this classic story!

This film has to be the most beautiful and most romantic film I have ever watched and it's absolutely amazing. It's such a beautiful love story to think that these two star crossed lovers took their own lives to be with each other. Its amazing!!!!! Also this film makes me cry everytime I watch it at the bit where Romeo and Juliet die in each others arms as they took their lives for each other <3

it is crap

this is such a good film, really emotional, great performances, brilliant adaption, having the original Shaksperean script makes it even better. I would recommend this film to anyone, even someone who hates Shakespeare will love this film.

It's amazing Leo di caprio is soo fit in it

I first watched this film at school as part of my topic on shakespeare and this wasnt exactly what i expected. It was so much more! I loved the fact that they kept the original play script even though it was set in modern times and the acting was great as it must have been hard talking in old english! Leo dicaprio was great as always. So was claire danes yet she wouldnt have been my first choice for juliet!! Overall if someone had came and told me about the concept of this film i would have laughted!!!!! But it just works!!!!!! Amazing!!!

This film was really great, we have just finished watching the two for a school essay and i think they are both as good as each other, the modern twist gives this film the advantage when it comes to how gripping the movie is. However where this film has much action and effects it lacks in showing romeo and juliets love for each other and you begin to forget that the movie is about their love. However it is very cleverly made and a nice fresh remake.

OMG!!! absolutly love this movie its much better than the 1968 version even if its less like the actual play and the juliet is too old, i adore this movie !!!!!!!!!!!!!

An excellent variation of Shakespeare's original ... much more action and romance. Especially like the fact that they change the use of swords to guns.

Also recommend buying the soundtrack, a good selection of music is used in this film.

The characters didnt understand the way Shakespeare meant the play to be portrayed, specially Tybalt in fight scene e.g. "An you will give me occasion" - question, not a statement.

And the person who liked this film because the guns are "cool"..... Go and watch a Bond/Bourne film

this movie is THE BEST! i fell in love with it. i cry like 1000 times in this i mean i feel sorry for Romeo( Leonardo DiCaprio is THE BEST at dieing) so i cry when he he dies i cry when she dies i cry. but then i cry ATLOT in movies and books but then i am a really happy person i hav been called the sun before cuz i am allways happy. but it is SOOOO good it makes me cry sooooo much. i love it. a bit hard to understand but racks. i oove it that there areguns instead of swords which was cool in fair vernoa where we lay our sceen from anchaint gurge breack new mutiy. blah blah blah. but yar it racks watch it! also the sond track racks to some great songs

This film is excellent, I agree, but you can buy it off amazon for £1.99. Although this means it is not on your iPod straight away it is still cheaper. That is how I bought it.

We're currently watching this film in English and it's so sweet and romantic.

I have this on dvd, seen it atleast 150 times, it is so good to be honest. action packed and you'll want to watch again and again. If i hadn't of broke my nano i would defenatly be buying.
