THIS FILM IS INSANE, ONE OF THE BEST FOUND FOOTAGE MOVIES IF NOT THE BEST. F****** AWESOME!!!!

If you are into arty film-making and you want to experience other people’s film attempts then you might like this, however, if you want a sic-fi film that has all the usual sfx and explosions and ideally some storyline then don’t get this film. It is very short and very overpriced. For me it was terrible, no plot and I hate all that shaky camera work - really do people enjoy seeing that in a professionally shot and produced movie? The write up oversells a cheap, badly written screen play that should not be in the list of sci-fi rentals. Go to an art cinema if you want this sort of thing, otherwise rent something else.

Reasonably entertaining but I couldn't relate to the characters or the story. The space monster is ridiculous and cliche. The story is very shallow.

I really love this film & this style of shooting. Although it does require the audience to have an imagination, looking at some of the reviews here & elsewhere this precursor is in short supply. Absolutely awesome stuff, highly recommend...

This was a great film I loved it in every. Even when you think it couldn't get any better, WHAT HAPPENS?........ IT DOES!!!!!!!

I would recommend this to anyone that likes sic fi because i myself am a big fan and I know my way around stuff like this, and I loved it and I can't and properly never will find the words to explain how in tense this move is. BUT!!! Just like every film there is always something that gets you, and in this film it's the length I would only say that it's rather short I would have loved if it was 2hours long rather than an hour and a half but I would highly recommend this to anyone?

Apart from that, I love this film. A cult classic for sure. Would love to see a sequel. I enjoyed it more the second and forth times. Really very good. Excellent monster flick. Well done J. J. Another please.

Not bad, especially for a "found footage" movie.

Have always liked J.J. Abrams work. This was a new refreshing look at the monster movie & rebooted the whole genre... This guy is amazing at what he can do... More to come from him!!!

this is a class film, its original enough. i always worry that when movies are made using a video camera like the blair witch it is an excuse and you never really understand how rationally somebody would actually do this - but it works - it makes sense why somebody would do this.you saw enough of the monster and the plot is pretty good.

......when this first came out it wasn't a film I was particularly interested in as I heard it was filmed in the same way as Blair Witch. Thankfully I decided to forget all that one evening and rented this from iTunes.

Sure the fast camera movements take a little adjusting to but once done its a very enjoyable movie with some very good SFX. A simple plot with some very good acting. One question - can anyone really maintain that grip of a video camera when 'all hell is breaking loose'? Well, I say forget that and enjoy it for what it is :o)

This film wasn't that bad but, the acting was not great and the storyline wasn't great but was only ok.

@jakeyb53 You do infact see alot of shots of the monster at the end of the film. Review: this was honestly one of the best films I have ever seen. The camera made the film different, more realistic and really put you in the action. The only disappointment for me was the ending but hopefully they will make a cloverfeild 2. You need to watch this film!!!!!

I like this movie I agree with some people that the camera was a little annoying at times but the over all experience was good the story and plot are top notch the characters are believable but best of all the alien monster. I would recommend this movie for the big screen and a decent sound set up it's just one of them types that the small screen of iPod/iPhone doesn't do it justice

First of all, this truly is a fantastic piece of film making. It's a familiar tale with a clever spin on it with the use of a hand held camera. Now, why are folk saying this is crap because of the camera and lack of visible aliens?! This, I feel, makes the film more interesting. The camera at times makes you feel involved in the film, unlike normal blockbusters. Also the lack of on screen aliens builds the tension up for me because it's an unknown enemy. Don't listen to the bad reviews, this is a brilliant film, that's original and well made. Thoroughly enjoyable, 5 stats.

I found this movie really shocking, especially the ending.

Great film and those of you saying that the camera was bad that's the idea! If you have ever seen the Blair witch project then you would relise how realistic it is. I really reccomend this film to everyone but mainly the thriller and mystery lovers. Trust me this film really works and is worth the price

i think this is a fantastic film sure at the beginining it takes a bit to get into the action but who cares not me its like your waching a game that plays it self intense action and there are some brilliant scenes that will get you chewing on your own lips i recommend this to anyone that wants to wach a monster film with a twist

I love the idea of this film and i really like the idea of having it shot with a handheld camera with no film crews. It has a very clever story line and doesn't drag parts out like other films similar to this sometimes do. I don't like horror films and this keeps it to a sensible low. I think this is a brilliant film and definitely worth having!

This is suprisingly a very good film. It is very compelling and mysterious. I know it is ment to be a home video but still, the start is a bit boring and long but I know why (it tells you everything about each actor and what's happening in the future) and the ending is sudden, quiet annoying and fuatrating as I would absouletely love to find out more about the story. The actors - even though not well known and popular - are very good and make it more compelling. This is very good with all the CGI and U.S military forces. It is deffenetely a must-see film 

It wasn't the best film I'd ever seen but it was still a good watch. and yes as every one has moaned the ending was sudden but it's because it's supposed to be a realistic home video. The whole film is supposed to be one big mystery. And the filming was done suprisingly well. If it was from the directors point of view you might as well swap the monster for Godzilla. It is still exciting and an interesting film I think is worth seeing. But I recommend renting it, it is really only worth watching once.

I have this film and don't get me wrong it is good. But there are a few flaws that i just can't get past. The home camcorder movie experience is quite well done, and it does work, but it's been done before, everyone was acting as if they'd just discovered it! It takes a while to get started, the guy videoing the whole experience is rubbish and not very convincing and lastly it's very scary until you realise it's just a giant monster smashing New York up. The monster isn't scary at all, infact it is quite funny. It's worth a watch and it is good entertainment...but not worth £6.99, i paid £2 for my copy and that was enough.

A sick, horrific, terrifying, hectic, nightmarish, disturbing, bloody, gory experience, and one not to be missed. One of the awesomest modern movies, as entertaining as Avatar and as gross as Final Destination 3 and Predator.

Cloverfield (i felt) was a great movie. It's not really a horror but my heart was pumping througout the film. The entire movie is filmed through a video camera and that might not be for everybody. Some people are comparing it to Blairwitch but this is FAR!!! Better. The acting is good but the guy controlling the camera is quite annoying as he repeats a lot of things. The price is slightly extravagent but i bought it and i thought it was WELL WORTH IT !!!

Yes the camera is a bit shaky but try to think of it like a home movie. One of the best films by j j abrams. Will leave you guessing for hours. Worth the buy.

storyline is ok but due to it being filmed by one of the characters you don't really get the sense of the storyline, if they filmed it from the directors view it would be a 5 star film.

It's a good movie but it ends so suddenly. What's the point of watching 5 people try to get to safety for 1.5 hrs when you never see any of them survive.

I only gave this 2 stars because I personally think it's very bad, but I seem to be almost alone in that among my friends. The camcorder style just doesn't work for me, but other people like it, so if it doesn't bother you then you will like it more than me. The main bad thing though is the actual storyline, it is really really bad and at the end you get the impression that they actually had no idea what was causing all the carnage, so just randomly thought something up. Worth a rent, definitely not a buy.

I must admit, it is a great film, one of the best films I have seen in a long time. But the down point to this film was the ending, very disapointing that's why the price is so low, but still worth watching.
