I'm mostly giving this film 5 stars because I absolutely loved it when it came out. I had read all the books and even though it wasn't faithful, I didn't mind because the protective circle was a brilliant idea. They did miss out the 4th book however, but I still enjoyed it. Great film for kids, and I'd recommend it to you if you like the sound of goblins and faeries :P

This film is one of my greatest movies, it takes you too a magical world full of unusual creatures and wonder. Overall i love this film so much i cannot describe, i love snuggling up in the winter and watching it, its just a must! :)

I went to see this film with a friend and boy did we regret it when we came out!! It is weird from start to finish, I only went because I loved Freddie Highmore in August Rush and 5 children and it, so i was right when i thought he was a good actor, because he is in this. The storyline on the other hand, was crap. I have never read the books, so i'm not going to compare the film but it was purely kiddy action fighting big ugly monsters, with not many special effects and mostly full of screaming. The ending is the only good part, because we got to leave afterwards!! Seriously don't bring a young child or if you're in your 30s don't go. You need to be exactly the right age to like this film, i figure 8-10 years old would be ok because the humor is really childish and i just was not hooked on it, unlike these kids in front of me.

A fun film for all the family, fantastical and a bit scary.

It's suchhhh a great film and I really recommend it to anyone! Every body in my family likes it! Me, my dad and even my nan!!!!!! BUY BUY BUY!!!!

When I first saw the film I had just read the first book. I was at first very confused because the whole of the 1st book was done in the first 20 mins. Then I realised it was all the books put together.

this really should have been made into a series. It is a good film but there is too much content in the books to cover in one film. i can think of ten things that never happened in the film. they really have abbreviated the story too much. it's a shame.

I thought this film was great though i think to rent 3.49 or however much it is reallly expensive. I loved it in the cinema but i think that if you bought it to whatch on your ipod it would not be very good.......

I thought this was an excellent will with a good storyline and got straight to the point a very good film and brilliant for kids!!

If you're a big Spiderwick fan then this film may not be for you, it's not quite true to the books. But - and it's an important but. This is a great fantasy film! it has a great story going on, it's exciting, clever, just a nice film to watch and it keeps a good pace. It also happens to give you a nice insight into the world of Spiderwick, which may tempt younger viewers to explore the books. My daughter loved it, i loved it, top film for a rainy sunday afternoon! Forget the other adult reviews of this film, THIS IS A GREAT FILM FOR KIDS!

great film! but i have to agree its a bit expensive dont ya think? (yes i am complaining to itunes......a bit) but anyway its a good film but i'd prefer to watch it on the big screen

if you have read any of the books, you'll know that most of this film is completely off the point! Apart from the fact that fairies were involved, which was a surprise then they complete twist and turn the main plot! A complete and utter disgrace! I hope next time they'll make a better Spiderwick Chronicles film, but doubt it. please do not buy this film

I've seen the film and it wasn't bad, but take my advice - don't buy it on iTunes, buy it somewhere where it's alot cheaper.

take a look at this film - there's loads of mystical characters and it's a good story and great for parents and kids alike. Shame about the price tag though but in defense of Apple, I don't think they have too much clout on the charging front.

This film was good, but not great. I was expecting more types of creatures like elves, dwarves etc. Indeed the series of books have these, but they are no-where to be seen the film. What I would like to know is why do we have to wait till September to rent it? I wanted to rent this for my wife to watch and can't. And there is no way I am spending £11 to see it- I don't want to keep the film, just watch it once. I am fed up with all the new releases being to buy only. Apple need to make a rental option compulsory!
