To Jill Johnson (Camilla Belle, The Ballad of Jack and Rose), it was the perfect babysitting job. The parents were away. The fridge was stocked. The children were tucked into bed. But then the phone rings and an ominous voice asks, 'Have you checked the children?' Locked in with the lights out and the curtains drawn, a panicky Jill phones the police, who trace the calls ' only to inform her they're coming from inside the house. Wow, full of jumps, suspense and was a little bit scary, i would of liked it better if they followed what the origanal 1979 version did with the it's not her husband in the bed its the brittish murderer (the british are coming, the british are coming) but i guess that makes it different but overall it was a scrary movie with a different ending. I love it!! ;)

What a pleasant surprise! This film was filled with suspense and jumps; the perfect blend of everything a good horror film needs! Highly recommend it. You won't want to babysit again….

Not worth it.
It was really not worth my 99p. If you want to see the only good bit fast forward to about 20 mins to the end, the first hour was so boring and dragged a lot. Plus the ending wasn't even that good. Bad bad bad!

It was a good film but it took a while to get to the point then it ended.. It was quite jumping in parts.. I might watch it again just not tomorrow.. It is worth the money for rent though (;

Cliche ridden tosh
Those who gave this anything above 2 stars must be 12 and never seen a movie before. That can be the only explanation for their sitting through 80 odd minutes of this plotless, slow moving pile of cliches. If you are an adult with a modicum of taste, then please don't waste your money on this tripe.

Brilliantly thrilling and exiting
When a stranger calls (2006) is a remake of a classis 1980s film of teh same name and is absolutly amazing very thrilling and scary, but not to much.
It is one of those films that has you screaming. Its a great take on a classic story. Newly created for a new generation of horror film fans.
Well worth the money and well worth watching. From start to finish it is a film that you can't bare to take ur eye off.

This was a great film with suspense starting 20 minutes into it the last 20 mins were defiantly the best but th film loses a star for not explaining anything as I was very confused at the end.

what you see is what you get
and it's true what you see is what you WILL get because it's just a quiet no idea movie. I wouldn't consider it a horror though but if you are dying to watch this movie DO NOT buy it but rent it because if you do buy it you'll never watch it. I was really dissapointed because I am not a first timer for horror movies, neither am i a pro so i wanted something a little like The Children or The Orphan which you SHOULD watch instead of this. The real tense moment is not until the last 10 to 15 mintues to the end of this film.
The Villain did not have a motive and the ending was not undertandable for me. I didn't get the ending and the ending wasn't a really smart ending. it's really pradictable and those who hate horror movies which include "that girl who knows theres something behind the closet but goes inside anyways" don't watch this beccause it will dissapoint you.
For first timers though, those who really don't like blood and violence, have a go.

Creepy, tense and unnerving, this slick and terrifying tale is enough to keep you feeling jittery for hours. The plot is tight, the performances likeable and the fact the killer is never really explained helps give the film an even creepier ending.

A Good First Scary Movie
If you never watched a scary movie before then this is the one to start with. I only gave it 4stars through as the movie takes a while to get to the actual thriller part. it wasnt extrembley scary but it was borderline. a brillant film if only we saw less of the killer (it makes it even more scary to not no a killer) and if the 45mins introduction to the characters was only about 20mins . but great film apart fromt hose points(: buy it and skip the start (:

A great invasion of the home thriller. Jill Johnson (Camilla Belle), thought she had the perfect babysitting job, the kids were already in bed, the parents were out til late. But during the night she gets phone calls from a unknown caller. When she is asked the question "Have you checked the children?", the thriller gets going.
This film would of got five stars, the only reason i gave it 4 stars is the time it takes to get into the the film properly. It is over 45 minutes until the caller asks "Have you checked the children", and the killer is only seen for about 15 minutes of the film. Apart from that it is a good film, recommended if you like Scream or I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Great first scary movie =)
This is a great first scary movie! I loved it but, be sure to watch it with friends. I couldn't answer the phone without thinking about this movie for quite a while after I had watched it. If you are thinking about buying/renting this movie, you should!
