Description

Considered by many to be director Alfred Hitchcock's greatest achievement, Leonard Maltin gives Vertigo four stars, hailing it as "A genuinely great motion picture." Set among San Francisco's renown landmarks, James Stewart is brilliant as Scottie Ferguson, an acrophobic detective hired to shadow a friend's suicidal wife, Madeleine (Kim Novak). After he saves her from drowning in the bay, Scottie's interest shifts from business to fascination with the icy, alluring blonde. When he finds another woman remarkably like his lost love, the now obsessed detective must unravel the secrets of the past to find the key to his future.

Despite being a huge Hitchcock fan, I really could not get into this film.

This is a masterpiece one of hitchcocks finest.
An intriguing and haunting tale coupled by an intense and incredible score that gives the film the emotion and drive that I'm sure hitchcock intended without the score the film wouldn't be the same.
Great performances stunning cinematography and shot in ultra wide 35mm video.this is an all time classic and one of my favoirate films ever, they don't make them like this anymore!!.

One of the most influential films ever made and a masterclass in film-making, this is Hitchcock at the apex of his run of 1950/60's classics (North by Northwest, Rear Window, Psycho, The Birds, Marnie). It's one of the most atmospheric and stylish films he ever made with beautiful camera work and career best performances by James Stewart and Kim Novak (who is the ultimate Hitchcock ‘Ice Cool Blonde’ in this film). Everything about this film is pitch perfect - the score by Bernard Herrmann, Saul Bass’s titles - even the Saul Bass Poster for the movie is a design classic. If you love the movies - you'll love this.
