There is no doubt that Carrell and Hathaway are superb, perfectly cast and at the peak of their powers. Couple this with a magical script, a great plot, lots of twists and superb direction and you have the very very best film that never was. Is the 'Serenity' of comedy. To be cherished.

This is my favourite movie and i think everybody should see it at least 10 times

This film is extremely funny yet it does link to johnny english as it does use many gags that you could find in both of those films. Overall I would say this film is amazing, the comedy is outrageuosely funny but I've seen most of it before.

A great remake of the classic Get Smart series. It's only funny if you watch the original TV series. The first time I watched it, it wasn't as funny as after I'd watched some of the series. Either way, a hilarious movie - definitely worth buying!

I've never seen the 1965 TV show, so I can't judge it on how much it is similiar to that. But all I can say is that this is a good comedy, verry funny. When you compare it to other spy comedys, this is nothing compared to the Austin Powers series, but still really good.

the plot line of 'bungling, hopleless spy with competent sidekick, trying to foil a criminal agency's plans' is a bit of a cliché, but don't let that stop you - it's a good comedy, full of laughs. Alan Arkin is excellent as the 'Chief'. Also look for James Caan playing the President.

Something for the comedy fans.

This film is a good idea but there are too many spy films out and this film is johnny english but worse. Lucky that johnny english is a good film because i laughed a lot at get smart and also thought how painful would that actually be. Great film worth watching.

This shows the beginning of maxwell smart as an agent. Carrell plays this character very well, and is very simalar to the original maxwell smart. This is a great movie that you can watch over and over again.

This is comedy shows good thought out characters i liked the twist and for me i went to the movies i saw it i wouldnt nesseraly buy it but if i had the chance to watch it again i would.

i rented this film while at my grans. i expeted a james bond rip off but its not like that at all. if you dont find it funny its still quite entertaining. DONT BUY RENT IT. after the 1st time it getts boring

This is definately one of my favourites. I went to watch this first at the cinema with my friend and we both really enjoyed it. I didn't really think it would be that fascinating and enjoyable to watch but it really was a good film, i'm wanting to buy the film sometime soon and i can't wait to watch it again. Definately one to buy!

This film is quite similar to "Johnny English" (starring Rowan Atkinson), though, so not particularly original, but funny all the same.

I didn't expect this film to be amazing, but given the case (arkin and especially carell) i thought it would be at least entertaining, possibly with the occasional laugh out loud moment.

even with low expectations, though, i was just... meh. carell is far too good a comedian for this kind of material. there aren't really any jokes in it, pretty much, and the few half decent set ups are ruined by dreadful, clunky, ponderous direction. no film of this length should have to rely on flashbacks of something that happened earlier in THE SAME FILM to make the action make sense. has the feel of something that went through way too many rewrites to the point of comedy-by-concensus, ie LAME.

the main problem is there is no coherent sense of what they want it to be. is it a 007-style spoof? they don't commit to the farce, take themselves far too seriously. is it an action/romance? not sure steve carell's your guy. anne hathaway does all she's required to do, which is show up, but really, i'd say don't bother.

I think this film really is hilarious, i've seen it three times and each time i laugh my socks off. The best line is the swordfish gag- this had me laughing for ten minutes. Yes it is like Johnny English in a few ways, but this doesn't make it any worse- thats hilarious too! I'd buy this, or at least rent it!

Absolutely HILARIOUS!!!! Anne Hathaway really shows her true acting self and also works well with the other guy.

A must-have!!

To start with, a warning: there's pretty much nothing in this film that you won't have seen somewhere else before. The jokes have been done a million times in other movies, the action is nothing to jump around about, and the characters are all pretty much taken from the standard Hollywood templates. But its harmless fun, and makes for an enjoyable popcorn movie that you can gross out to when you don't want to think. Steve Carell is fairly average here by his standards, but even that is pretty great. There's absolutely nothing here to hate, but probably nothing here to love either. Just entertainment!

Watching the trailer was good and funny but when I saw the film it was good with Anne Hathaway in it but it was quite boring al together

I very rarely turn films off half way through especially when I've paid hard earned cash for them but I have to say that this is quite possibly one of the worst films I have ever seen. It all seemed so promising to begin with as well! I love Steve Carell and and the girl who's name I have forgotten is not unappealing but this was utter dross. Stupid characters...slow, bumbling story line and one joke. Very Bad. I kept hoping that it would become tongue in cheek and take the mickey out of itself but it didnt. Sad times for Steve and the gang.

You really should have either seen the original TV series from the 60s, watched the reruns, or done a little research - before watching this movie. If you did, then you would get the many ways this movie remake of classic tv comedy has managed to stay true to the original. Boomers, maybe Busters should love it - you X & Y kids, do your homework first and then watch it. I though it was great.

I normally never do reviews, and let's be clear on something; I love daft comedies. Anchorman, 40 Year Old Virgin, Don't Mess with the Zohan, I love them! But this....is....terrible! I honestly did not laugh once. The jokes are so stale and predictable, and Steve Carrell is wasted in this film. I avoided it at the cinema because it looked really bad, but the TV trailer changed my mind and I gave it a chance. I wish I'd set fire to myself instead. It would have been more fun.

As someone who seems to have missed the Steve Carrell bandwagon I thought I'd give this a go. It turned out to be a rather sharp take on the spy genre. Just as Men in Black gave a new slant to the 1950's sci-fi movie, so this does the same to the spy drama which has its roots in the 1960s. And like Men in Black there's no fat or bloating here. Just lean and very entertaining storytelling.

Definately worth buying. This is the only film to have me laughing constantly throughout.

This film is absolutley diabolical - not a single laugh. I am begining to become suspicious about who writes the reviews - Itunes or the Film Company? I rented the film on the strength of the reviews and it is complete rubbish - in fact I turned it off before reaching the end. If you are 6 years old you might find the occasional part funny but for adults you would have more laughs soaking in an acid bath!

Terrible film, if you want a Bond spoof, watch old Austin Powers instead of this. I laughed out loud once. I'd request my £3.49 back if I could! I like Steve Carell, but he adds nothing to this film that you haven't seen in any of his other movies. I don't know why its #1 in Top Rated!!

To be honest the idea of “secret agent movies” in my view is seriously overdun within Hollywood (Bond, Bourne Trilogy and Austin Powers to name a few), and having a clumsy, almost bungling agent has also been done before (Johnny English). So it begs the question, what’s so different about Get Smart? As far as the plot goes the answer is.... Nothing, however don’t let this deter you from getting this film, while it’s entertaining and features a good cast and is worth definitely worth renting but not actually worth buying in my view. I say this because its nothing that has not been seen or done before from this genre. Steve Carrell does a great job portraying a secret agent, with a good supporting performance from Anne Hathaway. Also its notable for WWE fans that this movie features former WWE superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Current WWE Superstar Dalip Singh Rana (The Great Khali)

I thought it was funny at times, although some of the jokes have been done before and done better I suppose. But, it's good for some uncomplicated entertainment...it doesn't take rocket science to keep up with the plot. A drink, feet on the table and enjoy an entertaining action film...at least that would be my advice.
