The persons and events in this film are fictitious - fortunately! A masterpiece of off-the-wall comedy, Airplane! features Robert Hays as an ex-fighter pilot forced to take over the controls of an airliner when the flight crew succumbs to food poisoning; Julie Hagerty as his girlfriend/stewardess/co-pilot; and a cast of all-stars including Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, Leslie Nielsen, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar... and more. Their hilarious high jinks spoof airplane disaster flicks, religious zealots, television commercials, romantic love... the list whirls by in rapid succession. The best film comedy ever!

Years ago I saw the second film first, that was a mistake. The second film makes the first seem like citizen Kane by comparison. This film has a better script and the visual gags are so good you realise just how badly recycled the script was in airplane 2. Only the police squad trilogy come close.

When this film was released it shined, 30 years on, it's still brilliant, but the same cannot be said for the price!

No.1 comedy

This without doubt the funniest film I've ever seen. The drinking problem is classic! But at £6.99 for a film almost 40 years old that's a rip off. £3.99 is what it should be. The cheaper stuff is the more people will buy it and apple would probably make more money.

Actually iTunes, other reviewers are right. When i saw you selling the download for £7, I went to my local Sainsbury's and bought it for £3. Even saved money using the petrol in the car. MONEY GRABBERS!!

The thing that cheers me up is that the cover has a pic of a twisted plane. According to the laws of quantum/dynamical physics, that is simply IMPOSSIBLE !

Absolutely Hilarious

This film is classic... It's timeless. The jokes come in thick and fast and will have you in stitches and the good thing about this movie is that you can watch over and over again! After watching this a third time, i noticed lots of other, little hidden jokes that i didn't see before.... On top of that, it has one of the best lines in a movie ever...

"Can you fly this plane?"

"Surely you can't be serious!"

"I am serious, and don't call me Sherly."

Daddy of Slapstick!!

This film is amazing, the daddy of slapstick comedy and if one joke doesn't kill you - the next one will, and you won't have to wait long, this film must avergae 1 joke per 10 seconds!! Really funny, brilliant film.

Why What, Why!?

I could have picked any one of a thousand reviews on iTunes to respond to. Why does everyone feel obliged to point out that you can buy this stuff elsewhere cheaper, we know.... We've heard of Amazon, some of us even go shopping on our own. If you don't like the price you don't have to buy it. Do you go into Starbucks and tell them your mum makes coffee at less than 50p a cup, actually you probably do... For some of us convenience and time is an issue too. Let the market decide people... Oh yeah, and when I read a review I don't want a price comparison I want to know what you thought of the content. So yes, Airplane is funny as hell, Thanks.
