brilliant modern war movie with the all the action and the mental side aswell. Great acting. Almost feel as you are in the movie, is a must watch!

I agree that this is a very good film, it is as close to reality as you can get. It depicts what it is really like most of the time- the waiting, the frustration of training for the moment, for the moment to never arrive, to put into practice what you trained so hard for.

We'll done to everyone who positively reviewed this film. All those who didn't- stop believing military service is like Call of Duty Black Ops!!!!!!

is probably the most boring film I've sat through. The pyshcolgical side is carried out against the viewers.

I watched this all the way through I don't know how but I did let's just say it isn't the best of war films by far you spend more time watching soldiers in their camp than anything.

This movie was brilliant! I loved it so much, it was funny, sad and exciting!

Not to mention Jake Gyllenhaal was gorgeous as usual. <3

These are the kind of people who HG Wells would have toil in mine shafts while the educated ones watched brilliant films like these. A great social commentary combined with unsettling political meaning, this film is a million times better than the hurt locker. Watch this.

I don't understand why so many people are leaving negative reviews about this film. It's fantastic. Okay, it's not a cinematised, hollywood war film! That's the best part about it! It's original. This is the only war film worth watching. It gives a real idea of what modern war is like. Not some hollywood bull with an unrealistic story. This is as real as it gets. The main character is acted brilliantly, and the storyline is fantastic. The narration is really enlightening. I don't think people should be so negative because this film isn't the same as every other war film. That's the point. It's original, and it's about time someone made an original war film. Well worth watching I guarantee you, as long as you aren't closed minded, and expecting another Saving Private Ryan clone.

Stop slating this film for 'not being a war film', for those of you who do are seriously miss-informed. Jarhead portrays beautifully the side of active service the civilian world does not see; the boredom, the prolonged stints of waiting punctuated by brief snaps of grueling physical exertion and pain, the frustration of fighting a non-conventional force by conventional means... and the heat.

If you are looking for a film which will have your mind numbed within seconds due to the body count, this is not for you... if you are looking for a glimpse of reality, a really interesting watching experience, and perhaps a little education... this is perfect.

One of the best films of our time, touches on what war is really like, 90% waiting around, 10% complete and utter mayhem, very watchable, and very re-watchable. It is a very intelligent film that gives a different perspective on war. 10/10.

If you want action in a war film then go buy black hawk down which i strongly recommend as it is my favourite war film of all time. this film is about the mental side of war and i found really funny. There are plenty of great war films out there with action but this film isnt supposed to be like that. Its a great war movie without all the gritty action scenes but remember the film is not aimed towards the people looking for violence in a film.

I enjoyed this movie. I wasn't put out by the fact that there is no bullet action and bodies dropping left, right and centre. That's not the aim of the film. It shows how disillusioned soldiers become when they don't see any action, the stress of being away from home and their loved ones and the monotony of life in the desert. It has humour, good acting and is a good film.

Dosent even fire a shot, call that a war film

Great for those who are fed up of the usual action shooter films that are a bit unrealistic. Shows some real truth and in my opinion shows it in a comic way. Good jokes, may appeal to those who like action war films but no shooting action available.

This is a very enjoyable film, excellent character development and a clever script really draws you into the story. This is not a War/Action film but more a story of psychological effects, stresses and disorientation.

This is an extremely dull and boring movie and aside from a couple of scenes which are visually very nice there is absolutely nothing to see here. You will most likely be dissapointed.
