Description

With parole almost behind him, Ben (Paul Walker) can't believe how much he has to be thankful for: a beautiful wife, an adorable little girl and a steady paycheck. Life is good. But when he unexpectedly loses his job, Ben foolishly turns back to crime, joining his ex-con brother (Shawn Hatosy) in a robbery with deadly consequences. Suddenly facing a lethal injection, Ben must say goodbye to his family and prepare himself for the worst. But his death sentence isn't quite what it seems, as Ben regains consciousness near an eerie psychiatric ward, where he's told he's been hired as the groundskeeper. With the state of his soul in question, and the love for his wife and daughter all the more real and powerful, Ben must figure out if he's truly cheated death, or if he's become part of something far more sinister.

Nice idea, poor execution

Casting does not produce credible characters

too slow

unfortunately this film didn't do it for me, which is a shame. i thought the plot developed too slowly and didn't feel there was enough depth perhaps to the story line or the characters. you have to wait till the end to understand the twist, but i'm not sure the whole thing stacks up so tp speak. not one for me, but clearly others enjoyed it based on the ratings...

Worth watching

Possibly not a 5 star film but I have rated it as such because I enjoyed it. The plot is interesting but the characters draw you in and the film ends up being very enjoyable. Don't want to give the plot away and whilst this is not Shatter island in terms of the twists, it is worthwhile watching nonetheless. This may appeal more to people with kids as it would be easier to draw you into the plot. Enjoy

The Lazarus Project

The Lazarus Project is a good decent american thriller/drama starring Paul Walker as Ben Garvey, who wants to put his criminal past behind him. With a steady job, he is living the life he finally wants with his wife and daughter. But when he unexpectedly loses his job, his turns back to his past, and robs a lab with his ex-con brother. During the robbery the police are alerted and his brother is killed along with an accomplice and a security guard, Ben is caught and is given the death sentence by lethal injection. But shortly after this, he awakens not far from a psychiatric hospital and works as the groundskeeper and he befriends a patient, Robbie who claims that people are watching them. Ben longs to return to his wife and daughter, but the life is his living now is not what it seems when the truth slowly unfolds. It is a well paced film, but you may think that it has a slow start, but bear with it. Paul Walker gives an outstanding performance as always and the plot unfolds nicely with parts being gripping and emotional in places. It isn't the greatest film i have ever seen, but the sort of film you will enjoy after a long days work. Overall a very good film, just not five stars and I would definitely recommend it if you like a well played thriller/drama.
