I remember when my mum took me to see this film at the cinema when I was only 5 and it's still as great today as when I saw it at the cinema. Patrick Stuart makes a great Lex Luther and the airplane crash scene was just INCREDIBLE!!!

Disappointing

Epic in scope and spectacle, effortlessly charming and sweepingly romantic - a nostalgic tribute (to Christopher Reeve and Richard Donner) and a powerful, surprisingly poignant continuation. Director Bryan Singer has created a golden-bathed Metropolis - a dreamlike world worthy of a superhero and in-which we are worthy of protection. The Man of Steel (Brandon Routh) is all-powerful and all-alone in the universe - or is he? Lois (Kate Bosworth) has closed her heart to him - she has moved on. The world has moved on... All apart from Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey), desperate for revenge - and willing to use stolen Kryptonian technology in-order to achieve it...

a 2006 adaption of our great american superhero.
well its not a great film and it feels as if it was forced like everyone who worked on it were forced against their will to make this.
but compared to superman 3 and 4 its a work of art.
i dont recommend this but its not completely bad. Superman fans may like this………

Excellent!!!

Best superman film made to date but could do without the "son". It actually continues from where the originally films left off but nonetheless a very good film.

Oh dear!!

Big disappointment!! It does have it's moments and I like singer as a director he brings class and lots of references to the original films,, Rough I Do give credit to.. as Superman/Kent it was always a big ask to fill Reeves's shoes and does a superb job but there is a lot wrong with it to..

Brandon Routh more than does Superman proud. Chris Reeve would have been proud. True heros have their struggles. This is the first version of superman to realistically show Superman struggling with real stuff. Love the bit where he has a kid in the wings. Kevin Spacey overplays Lex Luthor a bit. More comical than ingenious and it get s a bit irritating. The movie is starting t be more true to the comic legacy.
Well done. Give more.

Well...

It wasn't as bad as "Batman and Robin", but still, Superman doesn't punch ANYONE or ANYTHING! He just stops bullets and flies around. I just felt that they build up the anger to the villains so much, and Superman never lets them have it. *SPOILERS!* I Also think they shouldn't have added the whole "Superman's son" plot. Maybe they could of if they made a sequel, but not here.

Dull, dull, dull

For a superhero film there are very few action sequences and Superman is not very super. And oh it's a Superman film so we must have Kryptonite and Lex Luther...again. Boring! It's been done before.
The one saving grace is the casting of Brandon Routh who is so close to the late, great Christopher Reeves performances it's scary.

Best

How can you make a film where superman gets beaten up by humans that rediculas what a waste I mean superman did not even have a fight and there is just no way he could lift that cyrptonite island not matter how charged he was. I mean it's kryptonite just a bit of it nearly kills him then he lifts an island of it into space LOL. The sun could not charge him while he was doing it cause the island blocked the sun it was just stupid and there are other vilains other than lex or should have used lex from smallville. The effects were good but could have been better when in the air supermans face look a bit computerised ( too smooth) but extremely didsapointed and the only time superman came close to death was with Doomsday now that would be a good movie. Next time start from his origins or fight somone tough.

hes back

superman was the best all them years ago.big budget exciting films that truly captured the spirit of a superhero. spiderman seems to be the more mainstream hero now tho. im a fan of bryan singer's version, it has its problems but it has plenty to admire including the plane crash sequence, the music from the original films and a good performance from brandon routh.i hope they make another sooner rather than later but it seems to be the latter at the moment
