guilty pleasure

A classic hollywood romp from a byegone era. Yes it has almost nothing whatsoever to do with the book on which it is supposedly based, but as a fairy tale adventure film it is a cracker. A great cast including Liz Taylor at her stunningly beautiful best. If you are looking for a faithful adaptation of the book, then move along, nothing to see here. If you want to be entertained, then sit down and enjoy.

Not very good

This film of Sir. Walter Scott's masterpiece is terrible. It completely misses the plot. The script writters have left out the fact that the main Norman character was a Knights templer and also that Garth not Wamba was Ivenhoe's squire and did not die. I do understand that the novel on which this film is based was overlong and needed to be refuced to make a movie but this is an outragious attempt. I do not blame the actors who do the best they can given the material.
