Description

From the revolutionary minds of Pixar Animation Studios and the acclaimed director of Monsters, Inc. comes a hilariously uplifting adventure where the sky is no longer the limit. Carl Fredricksen, a retired balloon salesman is part rascal, part dreamer who is ready for his last chance at high-flying excitement. Tying thousands of balloons to his house, Carl sets off to the lost world of his childhood dreams. Unbeknownst to Carl, Russell, an overeager 8-year old Wilderness Explorer who has never ventured beyond his backyard, is in the wrong place at the wrong time – Carl's front porch! The world's most unlikely duo reaches new heights and meets fantastic friends like Dug, a dog with a special collar that allows him to speak, and Kevin, the rare 13-foot tall flightless bird. Stuck together in the wilds of the jungle, Carl realizes that sometimes life's biggest adventures aren't the ones you set out looking for. Up reaches new heights and it's an adventure that will send your spirits soaring!

Love this movie. Some people are saying it’s all about him saving a bird 😂 it’s really not, he was being made to move into a care home, so he flew up with balloons with his house to travel to the place him and his wife has always wanted to go and live. They fell in love as children, lived a life together and she died. So he tries to live her dream to make her happy. So he does, he finds and dog and an Asian kid who is in the scouts or something. They travel around and try to get to the fountain thingy place, but then they come across his role model who was the best traveller in the worlds until he got angry or something. He went to that place and he’s lived there for years tying to search for the special bird, he’s actually evil. The Asian kid finds the bird after a wee wee and he tries to take it from them, Old guy realised he’s evil and leaves, takes dog and Asian kid and treats him like the son he’s never had.

Worst Pixar film ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This isn't your standard rainbows and sunshine Pixar movie, but it is a very good well thought out film, the first 15 minutes do start a bit sullen but then it picks up from there and just keeps goining.

This film starts with such a sad story it's hard to see how it will ever be entertaining or funny... But the script is brilliant and the pace of the story is just right. This is great film to watch with the kids on a rainy Sunday afternoon.. All ages too. The story can cross all ages even adults without the kids.

Is this....the best family picture of all time?

If you thought Toy Story or Finding Nemo was the best thing Pixar has ever done, then you should watch this wonderful film. It's funny, creative, enchanting, emotional and downright fantastic.
And on that bombshell, I should even further credit Pixar for creating a perfect relationship opening that lasts for around 6 minutes WITHOUT ANY DIALOGUE and us still better than what Twilight failed to do in 5 films.

Great movie for kids, come on, what a simple story line. He finds a bird, he saves the bird, THE END. Nevertheless lots of funny moments. Good for kids under 10, after that if u watch it on your own then you have too much time on your hands; worth renting. 6.5/10 - The film lacked another twist .

Excellent movie as you would come to expect from Pixar.
It was a shame I couldn't rent it, by then again I'm happy to own a classic like this.
One quibble, is the video compression on the movie was poor and you could see distinct banding on areas of similar tone and colour, e.g like the sky. Also, having available HD version would be nice, especially one where you don't have to first purchase an Apple TV to get it.

Beautifully Heartbraking

The Trailer does not do this film justice, i saw it with a friend because there was nothing else on at the cinema - and i was so pleasantly surprised! it has a truly fantastic story-line and is executed beautifully - with bits to make you laugh and cry, and some cleaverly disguised adult humour! Its a film for the whole family and a definate keeper! Enjoy!

Reminded me of WallE, in that the beginning was the most poignant part of the movie. It's as though the makers of these pictures are allowed free reign, then half way through they remember they won't make any money unless the pander to the usual stereotypes. It would be interesting to see one of these that doesn't lose it's courage half way through. In any event, there's nothing wrong with the fluffy kids film this evolves into, there were a lot of endearing touches, well worth a watch.

Disney Pixar have crafted another stunning, incredible animation film. No matter what the story behind their films, they always seem to amaze and surprise their audience. I am a 22 years old male and i loved this film. It has comedy, it has drama, it has adventure and the characters are all likealbe. Up is a film for all ages, not just for kids. I watched it with my mum, uncle and my 4 year old cousin and we all had the same opinion of the film after we finished watching it. Within the first five minutes of the film, you will be crying with laugher. It is film for all the family and i think it definitely is a must see film.
Five stars isn't enough!

Up is a great film which suits people of any age. There's plenty of funny bits for children and the older audience, and the concept and plot of this film will also appeal to adults (especially the great opening scene). This was a great film to watch at the cinema, and will surely be just as good at home!! This is a must see, and personally I think that this is the best pixar film yet. Yet another triumph by Disney Pixar. Up is an adventure that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and is quite possibly one of the best adventure stories ever written. OK, that's quite a statement, but it truly is a gripping and emotionally touching story. Up is certainly one to add to the collection and one that I'm sure will be watched time and time again.

Went to watch this with my Dad in 3D at the cinema. We lost my Mum (his wife of 52 years) only months before so it was quite poetic really and very close to the bone watching some of those early scenes. He and I sat wiping tears away from under our 3D glasses! I dragged him out of the house to the cinema to get away from our grief and had no idea what the film was about really. I just knew it was about some grumpy looking old man so thought it might be apt and make him laugh a little bit. And after all the tears of sadness watching the beginning montage....we did laugh. He came out saying that it was absolutely amazing. It was technically brilliant and just so clever and fun. I'll always hold a special place in my heart for this film. The characterisation is just so sweet and he and I were totally hooked all the way through. So, there's a good recommendation from a 38 year old and a 75 year old! And they say Pixar films are for the kids market....
They are such a pioneering team. Can't wait for the next offering from their studio genius.

UP has a fantastic opening, truly brilliant and quite moving. Sadly after that it slowly drops off into slapstick and the emotional impact of the opening is virtually forgotten. The film is still entertaining, and of course, beautiful to look at, but it's a shame Pixar didn't have the courage to keep the silly slapstick for a more suitable project.
Also, why no HD and why no rental iTunes? The iTunes store in the US offers this in HD.
