Are you kidding?

This film, as a film, is okay. But, when you compare it to the book you see that it is RUBBISH. Eragon looks like he killed Brom, Arya doesn't look like an elf and she was supposed to be unconscious and start of by attacking Eragon's mind when he tries to contact her and also, Saphira was never meant to go from being tiny to huge, she was supposed to grow gradually. Couldn't the director wait until ALL the books were published and then read them all? Seriously, if you have read the book you will scream at this film for getting loads wrong. If you haven't, enjoy the terrible film ( because when not compared to the book and you see loads is wrong, it's okay) then read the books.

Rubbish

Loved the books, loathed this dumbed down film: you can feel the embarrassment of the poor actors wondering just how they ended up in this!

Drivel

So sad. The books have the creativity and flare of Tolkien if only Jackson had been in charge of the movies the Inheritance Cycle could have been an epic masterpiece. Instead we got this tripe.

Awful

I've got to agree with everybody else on this. You cannot put about 1500 pages of an amazing book into an hour and 43 minutes. Read the book - Its soooo much better.

Oh dear!!

Even if you haven't read the books, this film is utterly terrible!! The concept maybe plausible for those under the age of ten but then not sure the content is suitable.. There are far better ways to waste your time!! THE BOOKS ARE EXCEPTIONAL!! They bare noooo resemblance to the film so please read!! If I wrote this series, I would be thoroughly hacked off by this monstrosity!! Seriously!! I would create my own dragons that would turn the production crew into charcoal.. Failing that- due to plausibility issues ( though that didn't seem to stop this film :/ ) I would sue!!!

So many thing wrong with this

For starters! Brom dies BEFORE they capture Arya AND they missed out the whole bit of 'Eragon imprisoned Murtagh comes and rescues him' Murtagh comes in when they save Arya! Plus, wheres Solembum?!

a little boring...

I have not read the novels but my good friends who have read the series say that they hate this film and it misses out most of the novels plot.
I not being a fan of the books i gave it a go and found it boring, the plot jumps so much that i found difficult to follow.
as for a sequel my friends say the same thing, they should again remake the this movie.
I agree with them this was a fantasy epic that could have worked.

Once agin the film industry strikes a blow to the heart of Literacy

Perhaps, had I not been captivated by the books I would've enjoyed this. Alas, for many years I was gifted with being able to read; a trait the makers of this film failed to predict in their audience. Huge swathes of quality storyline were brutally stripped from the book. It looks as though the final scenes were put together on the last day of filming, as what should be a tense build-up to a finale, rich in new characters and sub-plots, takes a mere five minutes and offers no substance whatsoever.
Even if you are illiterate, learn to read so you do not have to watch this.
Love Jermy Irons though; he was fantastic in Lion King (watch that instead)

Vote

I vote the give this job to a real director like Jackson or Spielberg. And get better actors and better graphics team. Then i'd like it. And the worst part is they haven't tried to make the rest of the series. The abandoned the lot. Its a real shame.

Read the book, then watch this again.

I first watched the film (I was like 9 or 10). I thought it was good at that time. A year later I read the book (its amazing). So then I was like "I wanna watch the film again!" I was dissapointed. Very. Very. Dissapointed. They did a terrible job with it. The Ra'zac are *not* made of cockroaches. Galbatorix's army do *not* have those ridiculous red bows. Arya's hair is *not* red: it's raven black. Brom does *not* look that young: in the book he looks more like Dumbledore.
So many mistakes...
Don't even punish yourself like that.
But read the book!! :D

Iffy

This is a crap film when taking the books into account. It leaves out many key scenes and Orik one of THE main characters. However if the books are left to one side it is slightly better. The one good thing i can say is that saphira looked awesome

horrible

I won't go into too much detail in this review, but enough to say that this adaptation is absolutely horrendous. Although written by a teenager at the time, the book is quite an interesting and entertaining read.
I don't see how ANYONE could understand the film's plot without reading the book - and having said that, the film drops quite a lot of the details in the book, and makes up some parts of the story!
Absolutely terrible film - even without comparing to the book.

Good film... But

First off this is a good film, good cast, but there are a few let-downs:
1.) The elves have no pointy ears, why? :)
2.) some of the good scences from the book where left out of the film, if they had've been in it might have done better.
But then again it was a good, famiy film, watch it on a TV or Ipad not an Ipod, it ruins the film.

Bad even without knowing of a book

This film is just beyond bad. I understand that people get annoyed when film adaptations of books don't live up to expectations but this film doesn't work even without knowing of a (frankly better) book. The dialogue is stilted and cliche, the acting poor, storylines just seem to spring from nowhere without really having any development. I actually like the book and the amount of changes is ridiculous but even if you haven't read the book, do not watch this film. just don't do it to yourself.

S A P H I R A

Terrible adaption of the book

The only good thing I have to say is that Saphira looked pretty...that's all! The order of things was all messed up, and a LOT of things were missed out...considering the book is so thick, it's not surprising, but making the film 2 parted would probably have been a better option. The acting was bad, the actors failed to capture the essence of the characters and I found the whole film lacked charm and appeal and failed to give the book justice. It's a real shame, cause I would have loved to have seen Eldest and Brisingr on the big screen too...but after this disaster, it looks like that's very unlikely to happen -.-'

Awful.

If you have seen this film please read the book as the film does it no justice whatsoever. AVOID THIS FILM AT ALL COSTS but i would highly ecommend the books. Anyone involved in the production of this obviously hadn't read the books and none of the essence of the Inheritance trilogy was seen in the film. The plot was changed beyond recognition and the characters were completely different. Doesn't deserve to share the same name as the books. I think i could have done a better job of turning it into a movie.

Rubbish

Definetely not worth watching! A bit too scary for the kids but too rubbish and childish for the adults! Also, it can't just end like that can it? I know they're trying to keep as true to the book as possible but they should rap it up without a cliffhanger if they're not going to make a sequel!

Eragon?

The plot has been changed from book to film so much it does not even deserve the same name! Whoever was in charge of money and buget spent 45% of it on advertising, 45% on the eye-meltingly beautiful CG Dragon/Saphira, then 10% on the remaining film. I think 'Stefen Fangmeier' means 'No Director'. Just read the book.
