Description
In The Butterfly Effect Evan Treborn (Ashton Kutcher) has lost crucial moments of his life, his childhood scarred by a series of terrifying events he can't remember. Brilliant film
If it helps to convince you, I am well educated and open minded. If you are too I can’t see you giving this film less than 3 stars. One of my favourite films and well worth a watch.

This is *NOT* the directors cut!
This film as labelled as the director's cut, but it is just the normal theatrical version. I have sent a refund request to iTunes support.
You can confirm this by checking the running times with IMDB, the directors cut should be 120mins, but this version is 113mins.
Nonetheless a brilliant and thought-provoking thriller. Just feel a bit robbed by iTunes.

A good film for the people that like to think.
This film has something for everyone. Although things take a while to kick in and the start of the film is possibly misleading it adds a nice touch to the end. Your brain is really tested throughout this film as twists and turns crop up in every direction and focus is never lost as each sean holds it's own gripping story line. I would recommend this film to anyone but to those of you that find you didn't quite understand it after the first time of watching you should watch it again.
Take this like my past reviews as truthful intonation to help my fellow movie fanatics.

Awesom, but not Directors Cut!
Awesome film, but this is NOT the director's cut. I did advise Apple over 6 months ago of this yet they have done nothing to update the title. I would ask for a refund personally if you have brought this.

OMG!
With all the positive reviews I read I can't believe we watched the same film.
I knew within a minute this was a stinker. Dreadful acting, dull camera work, cliche after cliche and did I mention the dreadful acting?
If you're considering , don't. I can only assume the PR company wrote most of the reviews.

Loved the film!!!!
Just watched it for the second time. Awesome story, and like people are saying it is soo unpredictable. I would say 99p isn't enough to rent this film, it was so damn good.

I decided to rent this film after reading many good reviews. Sorry, but I was disappointed with this film, maybe after reading the reviews I was expecting so much more. Found it weird and hard to follow at times. Would not recommend it.

Film of the year
If you want a film with twists turns and a brilliant storyline then this is the film for you. You will be fixed to the screen wondering what will happen next and crying from start to end. I can't believe this film didn't get an Oscar. Without doubt one of the most addictive 2 hours of my filming career. Superb in every sense.

Honestly if you enjoy great acting and an engaging, multidimensional storyline then this film is not for you. Asthon Kutcher and Amy Smart give the least engaging performances I have ever seen and the script is horrendous. STAY AWAY

Amazing...
This film is truly amazing.It shows Kutcher at his best and its deffinantly like nothing else. The story line is unique and truly fantastic.
I would recomend this film to anyone, its great but i do believe this isn't the directors cut verison, but still very good.

It's clear most people writing reviews on here are far from movie critics.
This movie really is the biggest price of ghash. Don't waste your time buying/renting this, not even for 99p.
Ashton Kutcher's staring in it for heavens sake, that says it all.

This is the best film EVER. Every one should be made to see this film. The only thing bad with this film is that there's too much nudity, but apart from that it's actually amazing!
I also find it annoying when everyone says that Kutchter is rubbish in this film when he's clearly not, and that the film on iTunes costs £7 when I bought it for 3.

Astounding
I watched this on TV the other day and it is simply AMAZING. I find it quite sad that remarkable films like this could slip through the cracks - it seems not a lot of people know of this film. If you're a fan of films that are NOT a predictable happy ending, you'll like this. Admittedly I was reluctant to watch it seeing as Eye-candy Kutcher wad starring; but he gives a surprisingly remarkable performance, as does everyone else.
Sure, it deals with some hard to sit through themes, but trust me, it is soooooo worth it. I already watched it a second time yesterday it's so good.
I'd suggest having tissues at the end though, even if you're not much of a weeper - neither am I, but I was sobbing.
This film are one of those few - I'm talking Titanic scale here - that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

This film is very, very good. The main idea is incredibly clever. But it's also scary. When I watched the beginnning I was considering not continuing but fortunately I continued. Although it might look as a horror movie watch it whole and you'll find it excellent.

Not sure if this is actually the Director's Cut
Just rented and watched this film - it is an awesome psychological thriller. However, supposedly the Director's Cut ends with Evan traveling back to the day of his birth, and as a fetus, strangles himself with his umbilical cord. This version I believe is the "original" theatrical version and does not play out with the other additional changes/extensions of the Director's Cut.

WOW everyone has to see this film! It really is great. Truly original story line. So unpredictable... Its like nothing else. Best film iv EVER seen. And a very good performance from ashton kutcher.
