Probably the worst film I have seen. Didn’t finish it. Gave up after an hour and 20 minutes. Acting was appalling. Direction worse. Continuity … well. Just because it’s Scorsese doesn’t mean it’s great. Terrible vehicle for Di Caprio who looks like a kid in a horror show. Avoid!

Why are people giving this 5 stars? This film has the most cringe worthy opening exposition I have ever heard. The script is awful. Kinglsey has forgotten how to act. Constant continuity errors and rote editing make this a film only for hard core DiCapprio fans.

Well all who gave this a 5 star must have been seeing something i missed. I thiought it was a real miss.

My friends said it was a must see. Personally it won’t be one of my must see’s. I’d recommend watching it, but really rent it, don’t buy it. I think the suspension of disbelief is killed somewhat when you have a film where most people are expecting a twist and then add in a secluded mental asylum. But hey, maybe I’m wrong and my friends over hyped it.

This film goes into a weird zone;deliberately. So up to that point it was a great noir movie. It turns into a melodrama. And actually is disappointing. Acting is great the characters too. But we're in with the insane so the trip is the purpose. I think this needed a re-write to tighten up the show. But this is worth a look. But why Scorsese can't get better stories is beyond me.

Would love to tell you what I thought of this film, after all I paid two rental charges to Apple for the pleasure. Only after I had successfully downloaded the movie twice, it disappeared, both from the purchased section of my iTunes account and it never showed up in the Videos App, despite two reboots.

Because I am currently travelling around Thailand I suspect the reason the movie will not show up is due to National terms, conditions and licensing agreements. My IP address will clearly show as being outside the UK. Funny that that was acceptable for the iTunes Store when it accepted my payment, yet when it comes to allowing me to see the product it is quite different.

Have committed this rant here as the 'report a problem' link on my 'receipt' will not connect to iTunes either.

Angry, disappointed and wondering why I spend so much money with and rely on Apple, Thailand.

Scorsese' love-affair with LDC has borne little fruit, unlike that with Deniro. LDC simply can't do 'internal pain' - and internal pain is Scorsese's weapon of choice.

So it's left to the supporting characters to provide humanity and intrigue, amidst a wash of soon-past-its-self-life CGI and insanity cliches.

The island looked great, though!

This film is incredible. So gloomy and sad and one that really hooks you in. The music is perfectly somber for the atmosphere and Ben Kingsley rocks it especially at the end. Great story and ending. Watching this a 2nd time is great as you pick up little things that would mean nothing the first time round, (sixth sense style).

Anybody who rates this film one star has no soul. Easily in my top 10.

Its just amazing, while you are watching it you dont know whats gonna be the end of the story. But when it happened, your mouth is gonna just that 😧 i recommend it. 😉

Love it ... The storyline is amazing

I love psychological thrillers but this one,wow it stands out from the crowd it's truly brutality with brilliance and psychological thrilling illusion.anyone who gives this a one star in my opinion has no taste.

This movie blew me away, the acting was incredible and the storyline was amazing and throughout the movie it kept playing with my mined and really maid me think, although the ending had a little twist, i think overall it is one of the best works of Leonardo Da-caprio and one of my favourite thrillers of all time :)

This film is in no way boring. IT'S AMAZING. In fact, I was surprised to see that I hadn't written a review for it before.

Amazing plot and performances, and the twist at the end is mind-blowing. Leo is fantastic as always, and portrays the character of Teddy beautifully. So believable.

Just watch it. I can't find the right words to praise this masterpiece enough. :3 <3

Amazing film. Great the first time I watched it. Just as good the second time. Lots of action, horror and drama. Not boring for a second. This easily be one of the best films of this decade. Not saying it is. But it definitely could be.

Leo at his best. A dark and confusing plot which keeps you gripped all the way through. A twist you may or may not see coming. I was so involved I did not. Great film. And a definite must see.

DiCaprio is amazing in this film. He's an amazing actor and it really really shines through in this film.

Also, the plot is mind-blowing. Very original and it twists your mind making you question what's reality and what's not. Very Gory in parts but overall, 10/10

Directed to perfection?!! The continuity in Mr S's film gets worse. Watch the guy in the cell scratching his head talking to Leo then from the back is hands are down. Then the cliff scene: Mark Ruffalo goes for his inside his jacket pocket, cut to another angle, another take, delay, then he continues.

All the way through. This film is overrated because of the director.

This film is the best thriller ive seen for a long long time, really enjoyed it, the ending was fantastic such a great twist. Leonardo played a great part in this film very very good, definately recommend watching it especially if you like a good thriller with a super ending certainly not disappointing!

The plot is fantastically testing and borderline epic - within this genre certainly - it kept me riveted for the duration. Disclaimer: do not watch if your quite simple minded and more than one twist in a movie gives you a hamster-wheel headache. This film requires a level of intelligence to appreciate.

I loved this film. It is directed to perfection and a spectacular performance from Leonado DiCapro really makes the film. It is clever and has a perfectly cast of characters to set the scene and mystery. It plays with your mind and leaves you speechless. It is crafted well with red herrings throwing off the scent at every turn and what a way to round the film off with an unpredictable plot twist. I love psychological thrillers and if you do youll love this.

I watched only a bit of this movie about 1 hr and 1/2, but i was so hypnotized by the way that it just kept you wanting to watch more! If you watch the trailer you see some crazy lady with only a bit of hair like she's on chemotherapy or something, but when i watched the movie it REALLY freaked me out!

great film. but had to mark it down for the nonsensical misandry moment when chuck is speaking to the husband-killing axe murder. in effect, she says her husband deserved worse for cheating on her and beating her. that's okay from her perspective, however - chuck agrees with her. and in the script, it's written that he RESPECTS (capitalized) what she said. reverse the gender roles, and you'll see how unacceptable that would be if it was a man who axed his wife. that's misandry. and it had nothing to do with the plot whatsoever. what a shame for such an otherwise great film.

It gets you so immersed in the storyline and when it gets to the end it takes you by complete surprise. I watched this film three times in two days maybe because I didn't have anything else to do but it had the same affect on me every time!

This film had me thinking about it long after I had watched it. It is also the only film I have watched where the film is actually as good if not better than the book. Leo is great in it. You will not get bored watching this, and not to spoil it .... but I didn't see it coming!

Though I did find the ending a little predictable, I found the build up almost perfect. Truly heartbreaking and makes you consider if it's happening to you. Excellently acted and directed. I think you have to take the ending with a pinch of salt. You should consider his last lines and consider what it actually means and you'll find that it's not as abrupt as it seems. It's ambiguous, yes but it leaves it up to you if he is aware or isn't. Superb.

A heartbreaking film which has an unbroken vein of sadness running though it amplified by an extraordinary choice of music chosen by Robbie Robertson and impeccable editing by Thelma Schoonmaker. The direction is flawless and the performance by Di Caprio and all of the assembled cast is first rate. The film hung over me for days after seeing it.

Probably Scorsese's finest work in a long time.

This is one of the best films I have ever seen and I don't say that lightly. The twists are amazing and you will never see them coming. I hate to say but the trailer really doesn't do the film any justice at all. Overall an amazing film which keeps you thinking for days and days after watching!

This film has an unexpected twist at the end to watch out for. Amazing build up, definately need to watch twice to understand the twist. Abrupt ending but overall film still excellent.

Films to buy: Inception, the hangover, shutter island. best films of the past 10 years.

Another film that ends all of a sudden? Cnt the screenwriters come up with original endings anymore? Apart from that it was well acted and atmospheric.

I thought this movie was amazing. It leaves you thinking "WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?!" You have to be able to concentrate on everything that happens in this movie or you will be left confused....kinda like me lol. I thought it was exellent and had the most amazing twists. 5/5
