This movie will lift all spirits and leave you feeling happy and cheerful. A real treat. Lots of fun with a lot of heart and great intentions. Totally recommend it - the music is really upbeat and it's really obvious that the actors had a ball being in it too.

I really enjoyed Whip It. The casting was spot on, especially the performances of Ellen Page, Julliette Lewis and Drew Barrymore. The soundtrack was great, very well chosen right from the beginning of the film. Definitely recommended.

What No Montage?!

Full of the best things about american indie films: quirky characters, off-kilter humour and an insight into an unseen America.
But it is also a departure away from the usual geek hero storyline. It is an extraordinary achievement that it didn't go down the montage route as the main character becomes immersed in an alternative sport. The "underground" nature of roller-derby allows the film makers to exploit a corny "sports team" story line and mix it with an anti-establishment sensibility.
Despite a slightly clunky middle section, I absolutely loved it.

We watched the 1st 40 mins of whip it on sat night, it was just like the trailer...little talent, no time taken to build up the characters and a very shallow plot-we both uttered should we turn it off at the same time-I have been better off watching rollerball or slapshot!!

Amazing xx

I saw this in the cinema with all my girlfriends, and a few months later went to a local roller derby event, which thankfully was a little less rough than the movie.. But I'm now inspired to go out and get my own skates and join up! I absolutely love this movie. It makes me feel happy, hence the title of this review. :)

Love it!x

I have to say that its refreshing to watch a down to earth and back to basics film. with no CGI and with good actors. I have watched and enjoyed films like Xanadu, Rollerblade (the Original) and found them entertaining and I think the debut for Drew Barrymore nailed it. Enticing, Griping, Realistic and Emotional are words that i would describe this film, I would love to watch the gag reel after as I get the feeling there must have been tons of bloopers.
I look forward to Drew's next directorship and highly recommend this film to people who want to add this film to their 'one to watch' library.

All shades of Awesomeness
