Michael Douglas is back in his Oscar®-winning role as one of the screen's most notorious villains, Gordon Gekko. Emerging from a lengthy prison stint, Gekko finds himself on the outside of a world he once dominated. Looking to repair his damaged relationship with his daughter Winnie, Gekko forms an alliance with her fiancé Jacob (Shia LaBeouf). But can Jacob and Winnie really trust the ex-financial titan, whose relentless efforts to redefine himself in a different era have unexpected consequences.

Don't quite understand the 3 star review this has at the moment, good film!!

The first movie still is the best thriller/drama centred in commerce and the abuse of the financial system and information where the capitalist mainstream has (and still today) influences both political and legal bodies to such a degree peoples livelihoods are directly affected and at times destroyed by these corporate raiders and insider traders. This movie reflects upon the actions of these traders up to the 2008 crash. Note the names of the financial institutions and how they are loosely based on the big institutions. This movie does not have the acting prominence of the first film but is very accessible, enjoyable and a very decent sequel. This is some ways is as shrewd as the original.

I can't believe I'm reading these comments, Great film! One of the greatest business/finance films to date. If you just want to see helicopters exploding and people shooting guns 24/7 then I agree it's not for you.

Why no rental?

A terrible storyline, weak acting, zero direction, nothing much of anything happens.
Sorry, but this really is a nasty film that shouldn't have been made.
A wooden howler.

If this film were for free, they would be overcharging. A film in search of a catch phrase; bad plot; bad script; a dialled in performance by Michael Douglas; feels like a 2.5 hour economics lecture - however an actual lecture would have been more entertaining!

I'd heard and read some poor reviews of this film but I was pleasantly surprised, it was only when the movie had finished I realised I was completely engrossed by it. Much better than I expected. I enjoyed the way the story was woven in with real events without being too ridiculous, I admit the last couple of scenes are just standard Hollywood nonsense but it didn't spoil the whole film for me.

This is the worst film we've watched in ages. No plot, no credible characters, and the most ridiculous special effects - often looks like a cheap parody. Not worth a penny.

Boring., Weird music, boring, then again on the plus side it was less boring in certain places. Best bit was the end, because it was the end, but that was boring too. Oh forgot to mention, the beginning was a bit, um Boring, then there was the middle, which was actually quite dull !!!
Oh good grief I'm bored writing this. I gave it 3 stars because although it was boring, I still had to watch the end, I did fall asleep at one point for about 10 mins (probably the interesting bit!) but my Mac became so bored it too could not be bothered to go back to the bit I missed.
My wife slept through the whole film - I think she was bored.
Um... I'm going now, cause I guess you're bored reading this.

I have pretty low standards for movies. I just want something to watch to relax.
But this was nearly unwatchable. Corny lines, corny plot... I did not enjoy. Be warned.

I like Oliver Stone movies they are always worth a watch. This isn't brilliant but it has its moments. Josh Brolin and Michael Douglas give excellent performances. Defintely worth a watch and 10 times better than the pretentious Inception.

Wish we hadn't bothered. It was a toss up between renting Wall St and Inception and unfortunately this won.
I guess we should have anticipated that it would be hard to empathise with a bunch of bankers who'd taken huge risks with other people's money and the director singularly failed to convince us to feel any sympathy with the central characters here. Michael Douglas is a class act but it wasn't enough to save the movie.
Money may never sleep, but I was after an hour of this durge.

This is a much awaited sequal and the movie reflects a change in societal materialism which dominated the nineteen eighties. Our hero Mr. Gekko is the chief protagonist in this educational genre which depicts that although money never sleeps, more importantly neither does the human heart. Personally, I preferred this sequal to the original with Michael Douglas giving an emotive performance.

Firstly I was really looking forward to seeing this film, being a Shia LaBeouf fan too however I struggled watching it. This is saying a lot as this is a genre that I usually really enjoy. There are worse films out there but you'll be hard pressed to find them. I will not be trying this one again in a hurry..

Like many others I was excited to finally see GG after all these years and initially I was disappointed that this film was not what I was expecting.
However, once I got over that and watched it for a second time I enjoyed it almost as much as the first film.
Forget the first film and enjoy this film for what it is - well written entertainment that can hold its own in spite of rather than because of its parentage.

Utterly boring

Dull and badly written. Carey mulligan is especially annoying and unbelievable, without giving the plot away she's a complete waste of space & no one else was much better. Even Charlie Sheen's cameo was ridiculous. Save your money or spend it on the original.

Average, VERY average

If you are about 40 years old you will really appreciate this film. I grew up in the 80s and following on from Wall Street this is fantastic. Just watch out for that next bubble.....renewable energy - some things never change! Quite brilliant and in another 20 years will be regarded as a classic reflection of our times. Really appreciated the balance between story line and morally thought provoking. Glad I bought this.

This is an excellant film that outlines some of what happened during the credit crises. The fraud has been on a mamoth scale, but people don't seem to get it. We've been ripped off big time, with socialised debt, and banks too big to fail BS, and our politicians have "bought it", and we now "own it", as in the debt! While those in the know have got richer...nothing has realy changed since the first film...just the scale of the money transfer, and the lack understanding of what has gone on. What is a derivative...other than a true WMD?
Economics links all the the world, as we are global, and recently the consequences of this hiest is starting to unfold on the streets of London, Cairo, Bahrain, Tunisia, as bankers and dictators begin to get a little feedback on their activities. Nothing is too big to fail! Even Gekko's cold heart?

Very confused film

Frankly, this film doesn't know what it wants to be. There is one third of a film which is the return of Gordon Gekko, one third which is an attempt to explain the recent financial crisis and one third the story of a love affair and a young man's fall and rise. The shame is, the film never decides what it wants to be. The explanation of the financial crisis is sometimes very good (there are scenes involving James Brolin at the Fed that very closely resemble real events), but if you do not understand how the crisis happened, you will probably be even more confused afterwards. I felt disappointed by the film and thought the plot line lacked focus. It won't be a defining film in the way the original was...

Without doubt, the worst movie ever created

What ever you do, dont listen to any reports saying this is a good movie becuase its not. Mark my words you will be very disapointed departing with any form of cash.
Im a movie fan and this is without doubt the worst movie ever made. At what point do the movie makers stop and think hang on, this is not working. They just kept on with this one and tried to add some effects and bouncing music.
Well guess what, putting a good actor like MD in there does not do the trick.

Good acting but too long and far too slow. Wait until it comes out on Sky. The plot weave is good but it takes far too long to move along. Stone should have done more with Sheen as well. Poor choice of female lead as she does not bring anything to the film.

I don't know why people are saying this is a bad film they obviously just think it's a one off stand alone film they could get straight into, you gotta watch the 80s one to appreciate the characters and story, oh and Charlie sheens appearance was brilliant can't believe how different he looks to the first film.

I don't think i can recommend this movie. Firstly, to the people who just don't get finance and "money language" it is not worth a watch. I am one of those people and i found it very hard to follow the script for it made huge amounts of references to the complex financial side of banking. Also i felt that the script was trying to be too clever which made it simultaneously hard to follow and a tad cliche. The acting on the other hand was very good. i thought all three of the main characters had tremendous chemistry. So, all in all it was ok...

If you have seen the first film there are a few small scenes in this one that will make you smile. If you haven't seen the first one it doesn't really matter.
A hollywood take on the finalncial crisis and what happens when greed goes wrong wrapped in a family's struggle to reconcile the past. (Entertainment not a documentary)
Some of the reviews on here made me think twice about buying it.

The story never ended with the first. You always wanted to know what happened to all that money. Douglas would never win a oscar for this film maybe because the film itself didn't have that edgy 90's cinematic quality. Wallstreet: Money Never Sleeps gives a more rounded quality, entertainment, emotion. The enjoyable characters are written into the story very well. Some wont like it but that might be down to misunderstanding of the story/film and immaturity of the viewer. I recommend and hope you enjoy....
