Description
Robert Downey Jr. plays Peter Highman, an expectant first-time father whose wife's due date is only days away. As he hurries to catch a flight home to Los Angeles from Atlanta to be at her side for the birth, his best intentions go completely awry when a chance encounter with aspiring actor and disaster-magnet Ethan Tremblay (Zach Galifianakis) leads to the two of them being tossed off the plane and placed on a no-fly list...while Peter's luggage, wallet and ID take off without him. With no alternatives in sight, Peter is forced to hitch a ride with Ethan and his canine traveling companion on what turns out to be a cross-country road trip that will destroy several cars, numerous friendships and Peter's last nerve.

Far better than expected!!!
Ok this definitely is not the Hangover nor is it completely a modern day version of Planes, Trains & automobiles.
Instead you get a mix of the above with a little extra - not a big fan of Zak however this is probably one of his best films to date - you do rightfully in places sympathise with his character.
Robert Downey at start really seems to have the Steve Martin ordinary guy - having a really bad day which just gets worse as in planes, trains etc
However though I really was in two minds over first half hour it really got going from then on in.Could have done a little without the language in places -unnecessary
But thanks to the honesty of the acting some touching moments from both Downey & Zak it's easy seen why this is a great comedy & road movie!!!
The scene at the Grand Canyon especially & some nice scenic backdrops along the way reuniting Downey with Jamie Foxx also good idea!! Plus refreshing change seeing Downey in this sort of character & not iron man!!!
Overall well worth renting or even buying & it's a road movie with a great heart, some crazy moments & understated performances from both the leads.
Plus nice soundtrack to go along with it!!! Hence it does indeed earn a four star rating!!!

when you look at the cast in this film and the plot, you think that this film is going to be epic. Well the fact is… it seriously isn't! it has a really good story line and a great cast with some of the best actors around, but the film could have been so much more, they really held back on this, they could have really gone to town on it but instead they kept it reserved and thats its downfall! its an ok watch but there are better films out there to rent

Hilarious movie
I watched this movie when it first came out and it was a really funny film but then I wanted to see it again on my ipod and it wasn't as funny the second time around, only watch it once cause gets boring second time around, rent it!!

The Hangover and The Hangover Part || have nothing on this excellent film, directed to precision with awesome actors, i have watched it 22 times and it never fails to make me laugh, the premier in London was great too...

Worst "comedy" I've ever seen, not funny at all. I'm a teenager, I'm a good judge of films. After/during the film I became frustrated at how annoying the plot/characters were. It wasn't uplifting at all, just depressing and un-amusing.

It was very funny and I do recommend that you rent this but don't buy it like I have because it is not good enough to buy!!! However I do recommend that you buy the hangover because that is a great film and really funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Found myself not laughing as much as I hoped to or was expecting to. I stuck it out to the end but was a bit disappointed as there was only a few laughs through the whole film. Worth a watch but rent.

Great movie
If you loved the hangover you'll really enjoy this. Not as funny as the hangover but same humour. Great cast, great chemistry. So many twists and turns typical road trip movie.

crap, not funny at all. stupid film
i rented it on i tunes. i thought it was going to be funny, but not the way it was portrayed. waste of money. i normally dont believe in other peoples review, wish i had read the reviews below. oh well! this film is not for everyone.
p.s i do watch alot of comedy so i do have sense of humour so i know whats funny.

Honestly: Waste of Time!
It takes a long time to get into the plot and then it's so predictable. Only has 1 or 2 funny parts in it but overall I wouldn't want to watch it again :/

What a waste of time! This film was so generic i fell a sleep. It is so predictable and the premise of two contrasting characters slowly bonding is beyond cliched.
The presence of big Hollywood execs is so obvious during the film from the two main actors coming off the back of previous success to the attempts at zany and off the wall jokes.
Avoid- find something genuinely funny or moving.

slow, uninteresting, rarely funny and dull. No where near as funny as The Hangover which also stars zach galifianakis. But what really bothered me about this movie above all of these massive problems, was that Robert Downey Jr's character would constantly make decisions that no one in the real world would ever choose. I know it's a comedy and can afford to be a little unrealistic, but this guy actually gets back in a car with a guy who only moments ago nearly killed them both. Just stupid.

Excruciating! I don't think I have ever been so bored, for any amateur script writer who thinks they can " Have a go " this will be an inspiration to you. I guess I must have sense of humour failure on a grand scale as I didn't find it remotely amusing. The acting is excellent, production values etc brilliant, I just didn't get it all.

A good film in its own right and worth a watch. Don't be mislead by comparisons to the hangover though its a very different film. If you've seen Planes, Trains and Automobiles you've seen this before, and Zach Galifianakis ain't no John Candy!
Actually if you haven't seen Planes, Trains and Automobiles before, watch that instead!

Bought and watched this today, wish I'd rented.. There were 3 laugh out loud moments (or was it 2?).. 3 laughs for £10? Not worth it in my eyes.. The plot didn't seem to glue together all that well, and all the while I was thinking "Planes, Trains and Automobiles was so much better". Oh and I didn't like Zach in the hangover, don't like him in this. The over the top 'weird guy' just isn't that good.

I have ten more minutes left to watch and let's hope it picks up. I do regret renting this. People said it was funnier than hangover but it really isn't on the same wave length!! This film is has nothing clever in it. Just cringe. I'm really disappointed in American comedy films lately. Definitely one to avoid if you are a fan of the actors in it as you will feel cheated!

Seems to me most iTunes reviews are either 5 or 1 stars... Really doesn't help anyone does it? Firstly this isn't the Hangover its a film all of its own.. Zach is Zach and if you like him you'll love this Film.. I certainly enjoyed it and while its not a 5 star comedy masterpiece it's still well worth watching. I bought this film with mixed expectations and I was pleased with it.. The storyline is what it is, two men travelling across America in a hurry however I would not have said it was predictable.. Im difficult to make laugh, but some of the one liners Zach Galifianakis comes out with were brilliant! For me this is 4 stars, not in any way average but its not going to change your world. Very good film!
On a side note the extras/improv and deleted scenes were great too!
