Jason Statham (The Mechanic, The Expendables) heads the cast of BLITZ as the tough, uncompromising and un-PC detective "Brant", who is teamed with unlikely partner "Sgt Porter Nash" played by Paddy Considine (The Bourne Ultimatum) to investigate a series of police murders. BAFTA and Tony Award-nominee Aidan Gillen (HBO’s The Wire) and fellow BAFTA-nominee David Morrissey (Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, State of Play, Nowhere Boy) join the cast as a cop-hating serial killer "Weiss" (Gillen) and hack crime reporter "Dunlop" (Morrissey).

Blitz
Don't get the negatives, this is a typical Statham film, good as ever all round!
If you don't get Statham, don't rent the films - the negatives are extremely
irrelevant!

Absolutely mint film!!!
This is an amazing film, typical Jason Statham film. I'm not sure if these people that have given it a bad review was watching the right film. Absolutely sick film, must watch!!!!!!

Bleak
There are some positives, not least he relationship between the two major characters which is original and interesting. It's not enough to save the film though. The violence is jarringly realistic which whilst in itself is not a bad thing along with the starkness of the tone and gaping plot holes (really guys, he gets to walk out with a big bag of cash?) makes this unrelentingly bleak. Social realism has it's place, as does popcorn cop but the mix here is ultimately just unpleasant.

Below average
I did not finish off the movie, watched half and got bored, story line isn't up to standard, come on Jason, your better than this!

Hmm
Awful film. But a true Jason film.

Gun switching at the end!
Poor plot and interesting casting. One of Statham's worst films. Continuity at the end flawed at the end Statham's holding 9mm semi auto then a revolver shows up in the next frame. Sloppy work!!

great film
very good film dont listen to others who put this down

Expected more
A poor plot some dubious casting and a Luke warm performance from Statham make this way worse than it could have been. I did manage to keep my eyes open but it was touch and go.

Very good, well done Stath
Most "Stath" films are all about the action and involve very little plotline, but "Blitz" is different. The characters all have richly detailed backgrounds and the acting is excellent, the director clearly preferring to be subtle and detailled rather than just presenting a series of detatched and predictable action sequences.
In a nutshell, an unknown London criminal has started executing Police Officers, and the Police in turn must stop the killer from striking again.
The film focuses on between-the-lines story advancement as well as the main central plot and really does a good job of trying to portray the gritty and often seedy lifestyle choices frequently faced by both Police and criminals alike.
This film goes farther than most in the genre by developing characters and side-plots, and you have to watch and pay attention if you want to be able to follow what's going on.
Judging by some of the other reviews here, unfortunately some immature and inattentive people don't seem to be able to do this (i.e., actually watching and understanding a film).

Pleasantly surprised, it's v good
Yes, I know it's Statham, but this movie is actually very good. It's a tough gritty UK based police movie with excellent cinematography, great casting with interesting characters and a truly dislikable bad guy who sort of reminded me of The Joker in The Dark Knight (nowhere near Heath's performance mind you). Still, I liked it and think it might get cult/classic status as a film in its genre given enough time.

Satham should not have played this role.
His presence it to big for these types of films & the film was to unrealistic but overall a good film

Great movie
Stathan at his gritty best.

Garbage
Don't bother with this film even if you do like Statham, saw it thinking "oh good, the big mans doing a british crime movie for a change", last time round he done the nice surprise that was 'The bank Job'. Unfortunately we get 90mins of cliched characters, all underwritten going from bleak scene of violence to bleak scene of violence looking like their trying to solve why their in this movie, Paddy Considine guilty as charged. If you want bleak inner city London and some action watch Toby Kebbell in The Veteran instead, a better film with more to say and leave this alone. It went straight to disc in other countries which speaks volumes.

Amazing film, statham as a renegade policeman, perfect cast for him, the story line isnt the most original but the screen play and acting is ace, MUST SEE!!
