Description

What do a sexy stewardess (Pam Grier), a street-tough gun runner (Samuel L. Jackson), a lonely bail bondsman (Robert Forster), a shifty ex-con (Robert De Niro), an earnest federal agent (Michael Keaton), and a stoned-out beach bunny (Bridget Fonda) have in common? They're six players on the trail of a half million dollars in cash! The only questions are...who's getting played...and who's gonna make the big score? Combining an explosive mix of intense action and edgy humor, Quentin Tarantino’s crime thriller introduced Pam Grier and Robert Forster to a new generation of filmgoers and earned Forster an Oscar® nomination.

A Tarantino film that lives up the hype!

Sometimes you hear great things about the latest Tarantino movie, people are calling it one of the greatest movies of all time, and then you finally see it yourself and you're like "er, no..." Sadly too many Tarantino films are overhyped. The guy has made some great stuff, but it's not a crime to say that every now and again he makes a movie that is good but not great...
This however is a movie that lives up to the hype! In fact considering it's actually one of his lesser known movies, if that was possible, it's a surprise that more people don't rave about it. It's got a great story, the usual stories of best laid plans gone awry but what really makes it are the performances of Robert Forster and Robert De Niro. Samuel L. Jackson is brilliant in this, but Samuel L. Jackson is being Samuel L. Jackson. Robert Forster plays the straight man, but in a totally deadpan way gets to deliver some of the best lines. Robert De Niro features prominently but his character is not really central to what's going on and he acts against type in this movie - in fact when I first saw it I didn't know he was in it beforehand and for several minutes was trying to work out who that guy was.....
And now it's available in HD! It's a win all round.

Good

Tarantino at his best. Up there with Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs and True Romance.
