Not as good as Taken or Schindler's List, but neither should it be compared to his previous films.
The character Neeson plays is as deep as in any of his films and the film itself plays out nicely as the band of survivors reveal more depth to their characters as the film progresses.
Yes, it's predictable, but as with nearly all of Neeson's characters you can't help but want and urge Neeson to be victorious in the end (he has an unlucky looking and well worn face which I think makes him likeable).
People who say it's boring, I think, are either feeling the anti-climax after the early plane crash (which really is well filmed), or they're not feeling the whole 'mood' of the film - the film is seen through the eyes of Neeson, (who is suicidal early on in the film, and thoughtful the remainder) versus some savage predator, but which he has a large degree of respect for.
