Description

3 bands, 6 cities, 1 train, and thousands of miles of track create an unforgettable musical experience in Big Easy Express.  Directed by Emmett Malloy (The White Stripes Under Great White Northern Lights) and starring some of the finest acts in music today, this incredible film captures nothing less than history in the making. Indie folk heroes Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Tennessee’'s Old Crow Medicine Show, and Britain'’s acclaimed Mumford & Sons hopped on a beautiful antique train and set out across America on a “tour of dreams.”  With poignancy and beauty, Malloy documents these incredible musicians as they ride the rails and wow the crowds from Oakland to New Orleans. So climb aboard the Big Easy Express for a vibrant and raucous adventure filled with joyous crowds, late night laughter, endless music…and a train that was bound for glory.

I couldn't stop tapping my feet ;-)

Wow, this documentary is so amazing. My husband is a big fan of Mumford and Sons, he asked me if I fancied watching it with him. I like all types of different genres of music, like him have become a Mumfords fan too. So thought it would be quite interesting.

Unabashedly hipster

What a wonderful film. Filed with an endearing love for country and folk music as well as the vision of 1930s working class America. I can't recommend this documentary enough. After watching it you will not only have fallen in love with the bands and their must, but I can guarantee you will have the urge to go out and do something meaningful, something adventurous, something that can be shared.

great live Performance

Excellent Mumford & Sons and I have discovered Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros: Songs like Home & All washed out. It is essential viewing if you are a Mumford fan or like fantastic train adventures. The last two songs Get on board little Children and Train in the Sky are wonderful performances. Buy it now!

Great

Bought this to get a Mumford & Sons fix while waiting for the second album… they're a really nice bunch and I'd love to see the song Maybe Tomorrow on their second album.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros playing All Wash Out in the field is awesome. I hadn't heard of them or Old Crow Medicine Show before I watched this; I've since bought an album of each and what an ace couple of finds.
Really nice to see so many people playing together and enjoying music at it's core.
Highly recommended.

perfect.

I bought this as a long-term Mumford and Sons fan,and have come out of it wanting to explore both Old Crow Medicine Show, and Edward Sharpe and the Zeros much further, all of whom are brilliant in this film. It's beautifully constructed, and beautifully shot, and I strongly recommend it to anyone with more than a passing interest in any,or all,of the bands featured.

Sub-title hell

Great film but spoiled by the sub-titles that you just can't turn off.
