What a waste of time! Boring with an awful cast

Over the top gui. Long and boring. Rubbish acting. Ridley Scott has lost the plot with this one. Can’t hold a candle to alien (1979). Poor poor film. Don’t waste your hard earned money on renting it let alone buying it.

My 4k HDR copy of Prometheus has been downgraded to SD. Yes SD!! I’ve asked Apple why and I’ve yet to receive a reply.

Sure it’s stupid in places but to be honest most of the other films with exception maybe to the first one are stupid in places as well.

I really enjoyed it and would recommend it if your a s I fi fan.

okay so my boyfriend made me watch this film, he told me it would be amazing and it had good reviews. I've never seen any of the films before so I had no clue what the hell was going on. It was literally the worse film ever. I've seen better episodes of Eastenders and thats pretty terrible. WORST FILM EVER

Prometheus was meant to fit into the Alien franchise as the film that answered all the questions posed by the original Alien movie. It does not and if you watch it expecting answers then you will be disappointed.

On its own, in isolation from the other movies in the Alien story, it's ok and worth watching. Don't expect much story telling though just enjoy the spectacle and feel the tension.

What it does do quite cleverly is fill a gap in the Alien story. It sits quite nicely at the beginning of the story where it doesn't have to do much in reality to start the ball rolling.

It's obvious that a follow on movie is required to further the story and answer the questions we all want answered, and hopefully they'll hire some good script writers and story writers for the next one.

So it's a bit like the coleslaw you get with your burger and chips. Doesn't actually add to the meal per se, but it fills the space on your plate making you think you got a bigger meal than you did, and is mildly tasty if you choose to eat it, but is otherwise entirely unnecessary. And when you're done, guess what, you still have room for pudding!

Hopefully pudding will be substantially more filling and leave us satisfied.

first of all I just can't believe anyone on this planet could possibly give this film just 1 star!, this tells me it went straight over these people's heads and the film was just to complex for them to understand!, myself though i thought it had a great story line!, one of the questions everybody wants to know!, did GOD place us here on earth?, or where we created by alien race and they placed us here on earth?, and if so are the alien race who created us where they created by an higher alien race?, and this method could go on and on!, this might seem a little too much to except but just think about it and it's easily feasible to say well yes it could be true! and this is basically what this film is about!, and I just can't wait for Prometheus 2 this promises to be even better than Prometheus 1! if you like space! and why are we here? is there a god? who created us? then this film is definitely for you! watch it now!!

Everything about this movie is excellent. Good cgi good plot good (enough) acting. I just wish Charlize Theron could act better in it. She is trying to be a cold woman but it feels like she is just cold with no emotions. Hollywood actors and actresses should be careful about bottox as no mimics on the face means no acting as well. Apart from that this movie is a good scifi adventure. Kudos Ridley Scott. Worth the money to buy or at least to rent. 👍

Average fiction story....

I've read a lot of reviews about this over the past couple years, neatly polarised into love or hate just like Marmite spread is. The people who hate it largely have issues cos it doesn't connect well enough with Alien, and there are too many unanswered questions. If you're a fan of Ridley's work, you should KNOW that that he won't give you all the answers right away. It was left with the possibility of a sequel (which we now know will happen), but can still stand as a film in its own right. So shame on you people who want everything on a silver platter. This is a stunning film set within the same Alien universe, and the creatures within it are a few generations away from becoming the more recognisable alien from the 70s. Remember that. If you come to this film with preconceptions, you'll be disappointed but that's your own fault. People need to see this as a standalone film that explores the possible lineage of Alien, with the other branch being revealed as the sequel brings it out in 2016 with Noomi and Michael. And Sigourney too. Even though I didn't fully see the vision at the time this came out, a bit of research made me love this film even more. It's very cleverly done and I can see this being put into the library of congress just like Alien was. 10/10 here all the way.

I really don’t understand all the 5-star reviews on this one. It was tedious and nonsensical, and just… just.. BAD. Hours of my life I’ll never get back.

There are few directors that can bring film after film of brilliance. This is another. From concept through to acting, special effects, story and outcome - nothing short of gripping and compulsive throughout.

Let's get the weaknesses of this film out of the way. The storytelling is not great. It starts well, with a lot of promise, but doesn't unfold very well. The fact that Idris Elba's character has to explain the story in one of the scenes is testament to this. It also leaves many unanswered questions. The involvement of one of the writers of Lost explain much of this - the story has a lot of promise at the beginning, with lots of interesting threads being created, but he obviously hadn't thought hard enough about where it was all going.

Having said all that, the exceptionally talented cast put in an excellent performance, and that should not be glossed over. The film is also visually stunning. I don't just mean the special effects, everything about the scenes, the sets, the choice of camera angles… it is all done extremely well. It also has a great score, which helps.

Despite its weaknesses, this is still a film worth watching.

Certainly very watchable although the director seems a little uncertain whether to make this a prequel to Alien or something in its own right.

Aliens is still the best sci-fi horror ever made by some margin however this film has its moments. Be very interested to see if the sequel ties up the many lose ends.

This is actually a pretty good SciFi film. If you were expecting Aliens then you will be disappointed. If you were expecting a good SciFi film with an interesting story line (I won't be a spoiler!) and great effects then you will not be disappointed. The acting is good and the story line makes sense. The film progresses through a story line and the only unfinished bit is a teaser for the follow up but does not spoil the plot of this one. What's not to like? The 1 stars just make me wonder if they saw the same film as I did!

I watched this film with very low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. It is a slow burner but soon picks up pace and is mind blowing as it reaches its conclusion. Fassbender is class and Theron plays a great supporting role. There are links to the Alien franchise but this edition is a success in its own right. I would highly recommend if you were a little sceptical like me.

Not a bad film.

You really need to be somewhat of an open minded, deep thinker with an understanding of ancient history and it's implications in connection with our roots as a species. For those reviewing with less than 3 stars, you're clearly lacking in the criteria above, accompanied with a glaringly obvious single figure IQ score.

Worst movie EVER!!!!!!!!!!

I loved it! It was everything I expected and more. Michael Fassbender was absolutely brilliant, as was Noomi Rapace. Great acting, great CGI, great suspense - the list goes on. It is definately set up for a sequel and as everyone else has mentioned there are a lot of unanswered questions. Its not Alien, but its got all the ingredients that make it similar and there are connections. If you are a fan of Sci-fi then you need to watch this!

I love this film. A lot of people find it boring, too many plot holes bla bla, but somehow it grabs me. I've seen it 6 times now and enjoy it every time, not to mention, you pick up on new things every time you watch it. I don't analyse it to find stuff that doesn't make sense, I just enjoy it for what it is: fabulous sci-fi

Ok film but not what I was expecting.

Why would you man a multi-trillion dollar mission with such half-wit crew members? The plot has more holes than my local golf course (boom boom)

I am a fan of the Alien movies, not so much the alien/predator however this is irrelevant to this movie.

As i was not anticipating watching an Alien Prequal I thought the movie was outstanding , was initially put off from the negative reviews but i am now extremely happy i downloaded it. Great story, lots of unanswered questions but i think this adds to the whole story.

I was thinking that this was a stand alone film, but it is basicly a prequel to aliens. Acting wasn't bad, a good film just to watch. If you like the alien films this will go well with the collection to show how they evolved into the creatures that we all know and love today.

The film was ok but why did i only get the SD digital copy with the Blu Ray? It seems pointless to give the SD version as i will never watch it because it looks so bad and thats the same with every single digital copy i have so far, its about time these companys start giving the HD versions with Blu Rays!

Simply dreadful - pretty much everything about this flick is a waste of time and money; the abysmal script, most of the acting, the awful score. The only positve? It looks nice.

If you're looking for a decent sci-fi film then this should be avoided like the plague!

Fantastic acting, directing and cinematography. Its a pity it was let down by a poor plot and script, many of the characters act and speak in ridiculous ways seeing as they are supposed to be experts in their field.

What an epic waste of time and money. Was expecting something, got nothing. Wow it's poor.

Such a good film and a great build up to the Alien films, good story line 2 well worth the watch.

As ever the marketing build up for this film had been unrelenting.

The art was amazing, but the story went from messed up, to crap, and then on to insulting.

Held together by gaffer tape it fell apart with closing hung ho idiocy.

If you take a heavy knock to the head before going it might be more bearable.

i'd like Ridley Scott to make the second follow-up to this - now that would be very exciting.

It was crap boring it felt like it was on for four hours the only bit that was good was when the alien came out the end. I was looking forward to this as well Honestly it really confused me 0.25 stars from me trust me the scene where they run from the rolling ship took 2 barrel rolls to avoid but instead they run for two mins I'm an aliens film but this is soiling its good name.

Avoid the positive feedback trust me save your money

When Alien first came out it had many detractors. As any great movie some people do not get it the first time, but something about it draws them back and they begin to unpack its intricate details.

There is a deeper story in this movie underneath the plotline which people have theorised about will be revealed in the sequal.

This movie will be remembered as one of the all time great Sci-Fi in the same way as Space Odyssey: 2001 was in future generations.

The scenery in this movie is spectacular!

This film was very average and quite disappointing, weak characters, mediocre acting and a plot that really never went anywhere. The special effects were good, but to be honest no better than many other modern sci-fi or fantasy films. Many recent sci-fi films are better than this, avatar, moon etc. Best not to waste money on this!!!
