Description

Naina (Preity Zinta) is a young woman, slightly not happy for reasons more than one. Her father committed suicide when she needed him the most, leaving Jennifer (Jaya bachchan), his wife all alone. Lajjo (Sushma Seth), Jennifer's mother-in-law blames Jennifer for the same. Furthermore, Jennifer is unhappy because Lajjo refuses to accept Gia, a 6-year old girl whom Jennifer adopted. Even the restaurant Jennifer is running is not doing well. In short, nothing is well on the Kapur family front. The only factors that redeem Naina's existence is her toiling and tolerant mother Jennifer and her bumbling stumbling MBA classmate Rohit (Saif Ali Khan). Meanwhile, Aman (Shah Rukh Khan) a happy-go-lucky guy arrives in Naina's neighbourhood and soon changes everything around, thanks to his contagious joviality and jest for life. He proves to be the messiah for the Kapur family in every sort...

Just rewatched it again after the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil this week. These 2 films have a very similar tone and soul. ADHM is of course far more mature and realistic. But KNHN has so much repeat value. It's a spendid film and a classic. One of the very best of the 00s.

One of the best Bollywood Movies

Nikhil advani's and Karan Johar's best work ever. Excellent movie full of entertainment, SEL Music, SRK thrills and Karan's high budget sets.

Set in NYC, Kal Ho Naa Ho follows the life of Naina Katherine Kapoor (Pretty Zinta), who lives with her mother, Jennifer (Jaya Bachan), Grandma Lajo, and brother and sister. Naina falls under a lot of stress between the turbulent relationship between her mother Jennifer and her Grandma Jennifer's mother in law. Her only friends are neighbour, the eccentric yet loving Sweetu, and Rohit. But all this is about to change when she meets Aman Mathur, their new neighbour. The film shows the journey of these three friends- Aman, Naina and Rohit, through this tough period.
This is one of if not my favourite Hindi film of all time. It's touching, genuine and heartfelt. Not one moment seems wasted in it's 3 hour run time. It's a roller coaster ride of hugely varying emotions, which culminate in one of the most tear-jerking moments I've ever experienced in my life.
In short, this film is AMAZING and if you haven't seen it, you're missing out. This is by FAR the best Hindi film I've seen in recent time, and deserves to be considered a classic like the ranks of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
WATCH IT.
