Christopher Lee the real Count Dracula

Hammers first Dracula film and a classic.Christopher Lee is my favourite Dracula because he is so menacing.Watched this film for the first time in the late seventies when I was young,it scared me so much.Just watch it and enjoy it,excellent price for a great film. Also check out the audiobook version of Dracula with Christopher Lee,the best read version of the classic novel.

Dracula

Hammer's 1958 version of Bram stokers novel is not a faithful retelling of the story however there is still much to be recommended here.
Firstly, the use of colour adds to the overall experience of the film.Blood being the most obvious component to be exploited in this way.The sets ,direction, script and acting(particularly Cushing and Lee as Van Helsing and Dracula respectively) are all excellent.
The film benefits greatly from great pacing and not being overlong. There is no padding out of any scenes and in my opinion no superfluous dialogue.
This film really put Hammer horror on the map,and made a fortune for the studio, and deservedly so.
So,overall a brilliant film that really has stood the test of time.A classic.
