Brilliant

Didn't except much but this film makes you want to go on the trail on reflect yourself.

Self indulgent, miserable and depressing

I thought the trailer looked great. I usually like travel/self discovery type films but I found it hard to understand what Reece was saying because she was always muttering under her breath. It painted an awful picture of humanity, especially men and generally I found it depressing and dark. I was glad when it finished!

ill conceived from start to finish

This might have been a poignant book but something was definitely lost in translation. I’m struggling to find one endearing aspect to this film. Slow moving, unengaging and far too long.

Disappointing

1. Much of the speech is mumbled and hard to understand. As an Englishman I need the subtitles fully to comprehend.
2. I hoped to see much more of the Pacific Crest Trail. It’s mostly a desert trail or forest in Mount Hood National Park.
3. There isn’t clear psychological progress through the film; conclusions rush in in the last 15 minutes. And it does trend to the maudlin.
4. The make-up could be a lot better - she doesn’t sunburn, her lips don’t chap, she doesn’t get very dirty, her hair doesn’t grow.

Disjointed

Went into this film looking forward to a coming of age drama with spectacle and soul; left feeling a little bored and let down. Reese Witherspoon was miscast, Laura Dern was totally underused and the cinematography was poor to say the least. This was supposed to be about rediscovery and healing but I just felt it was nothing special.

Must movie

First time write review here. This movie is a MUST. Gave me lot to think about. The message that everybody must forgive themselves no matter what did or did not do... Deep, beautiful and so thrue.

Brilliant

A great watch and well made. Usually outdoor films are made in such a naf way but not this one.. And Reese Witherspoon, who I never thought much of before, was excellent..

Amazing!

Unbelievable - one of the best movies I have ever seen! Kept me hooked the entire way going on the emotional rollercoaster as they say with Cheryl Strayed (Reese Witherspoon).

Poignant and raw

It moved me as I could relate to her loss. Wish I'd read her book beforehand. Love how her rucksack was a character in itself.

Worth a watch

Really enjoyed this when I was not so sure about it from reviews. Young women finding herself, nervous, yet brave, honest, dishonest but proving a point to herself. Reece Withoutaspoon is great, she can act and this is a good film.

Wild

Enthralled, inspired, awed, moved. A necessary journey, for the character and also every woman who’s ever wondered if she could. Reese Witherspoon’s portrayal of Cheryl Strayed's trek 1100 miles along the Pacific Coast Trail, from the Mojave Desert in southern California to Oregon, and how she came to be here is honest, conflicted and beautifully told. Can’t wait for it’s download release.

Wild

I can't think of a more contradictory title... This film was, despite the interesting scenery, boring as hell. I love Reese Witherspoon, but she couldn't save it, sorry. Save yourself the money of renting, (don't even consider buying it) and just watch the trailer for all the best bits.
