Just finished A Most Violent Year! Wow what a film! Absolutely lovely it - excellent actor and the story line and development was perfect!

After the excellent Margin Call and All is Lost, J.C.Chandor again proves he is a real force in intelligent drama. He is helped here by the always excellent Oscar Isaac in the lead role, with Jessica Chastain also turning in top tier work.

The movie itself is a low key crime thriller, and gripping throughout. The tension builds continually, with the attacks on Oscar Isaac's employees and interests ever more violent and audacious. The fantastic soundtrack helps too.

Highly recommended.

Very slow film..........paint drying comes to mind !

Yes. Watched it twice, once on a flight across Europe and again as I travel the London tube. This movie… its not a block-buster with robots, buildings collapsing or gangs of elite soldiers protecting a president - professing god-bless america. The script highlights the life of an honest man whom is married to the daughter of a ruthless New York father. There is corruption and business, but the outpouring of this causes struggle, turmoil and with clarity of thought, from the husband, he finds a way forward when dealing with the police, the bank that lets him down; and the people trying to damage his business. It’s simply a practical script that draws your attention the more you watch the movie. I guess those who give this less than 5 stars are perhaps wanting more phantasmagoria or glamour in a movie. I do recommend this.
