Great effects, yes, but poor story line and actors that sound as if they are reading off a prompt board. Not a film I can recommend.

… not much to add to what has already been said. They got lost and couldn’t execute a good idea. There was chemistry between the leads. But it all didn’t tie in well, especially Kunis being quiet relaxed finding out who she is. And all that forth and back to earth and jupiter, the galactic motorways must be bursting. Tatum looked silly and I did not understand the ending, so he is a breed with a certain animal why the wings?

Wow! Amazing scenes and some of the best acting talent... really enjoyable illusion or disillusion...

If reincarnation and genetics are as religion and science... and the difference is as wide as your belief or calculation... who would you save?

This is one of these movies where you regret that you have not read the reviews BEFORE buying this movie. I can only agree with many opinions stated here and feel the ncessity to warn other people to NOT buy or rent this movie as it is a truly waste of money and time!

The main reason is from my point of view the very very poor storyboard which can not decide to be just shallow or very complicated with the number of roles it has to introduce to the viewer. I leaves the bad taste in your mouth that there is something about the story itself but hundreds of wrong decisions were taken how to get it to the screen.

Don't bother even if you are a fan of any of the actors.

it's never going to be the best Sci-Fi film, and doesn't set out to be. Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours on an overcast afternoon. And at a fiver - the price is ok too!

But I guess it depends on what you are expecting to watch. I had no expectations and did not read the book, so it was a good entertaining movie for me. The plot was good for a one off movie not a trilogy. True the main villain sounded ridiculous, but let's pretend it was an artistic vision of somebody..

Don't expect a lot and you love this. Fun, silly, but epic also. This takes you to a world you want to visit again

Im a fan of sci fi movies so had hope for this one. Alot of action and i like that, i loved every part of the sci fi elements throughout the film. This is possibly the best piece of sci fi film making in recent years, adding innovation and a modern touch to the genre, loved every minute of it, a £5.99 well spent.

I was looking forward to this as a fan of epic science fiction and fantasy. I was pleased to see a female protagonist. BUT the plot is just too similar to one of my favourite books; The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N K Jemisin and the actors lack depth and screen presence, the casting is all too predictable, but that's not surprising with the politics of Hollywood being as they are.

It is a visually stunning film but light on dramatic tension and ultimately up engaging like mental candy floss.

I love this movie. It's nice to see something different for a change instead of remakes.

Being a big fan of sci-fi, the scenes, the music and the storyline really had me hooked from the first minute till the words came up and hungry for more. If you are a sci-fi fan like myself please don't knock it till you try it.

I don’t know why so many people are criticising this movie. It’s beautiful and wonderfully written. No, it is not as dark as the Matrix - but it’s not supposed to be. The visual effects are gorgeous; the fairytale elements make it sweet; there is plenty of action and there is not a single boring moment.

....as you watch you will get the growing sense you should have watched something else. She cleans toilets, owns the world and then cleans toilets again.

It's a shame so many bash this film. We should be thankful to have two such great directors allowed to make films they want to make instead of yet another franchise churn out.

This movie follows similar themes as their previous work, rebellion, life and death, rebirth and so much more. It wonderfully put together. Sure it's a wonderfully mad film and one has to go with it but it's all the better for it.

if your a sci fi fan watch this

Poor film to the point of being annoying in fact. Especially the melodramatic music used to embellish the high drama moments. Rent before you buy or you might just end up kicking yourself!

Not sure why other reviews are quite so harsh. It won’t win any oscars, but if you want a fun family sci-fi to while away a Saturday evening and you like action, great special effects and pure escapism - this is a winner. Yes you can drive a horse and cart through the storyline but this is entertainment for pete’s sake.

If you are a Sci Fi Fan, you will love it. It has everything in it, action, political intrigue even a bit if romance. Channing Tatum was...understated...sexy... perfect. Mika Kunis's character was the gullible heroine, to be frank the plot did not allow her to be anything else as someone who had grown up in the backwoods of Earth completely ignorant of the ways of the verse. Wachowskis created a complete world, yes it pushes the boundaries of plausibility, but that's what sci fi is about just go with it. In the past what is now seen as classic sci fi films were given low ratings in ie the original Tron film (which I loved) so give this film a chance. I highly recommend this film, if you want entertainment this film will provide it.

Definitely not worth spending £13.99 on, one of the worst films I’ve seen recently, very confusing.

Poor acting coupled with WAY too many special effects, action sequences that go on for about 20 minutes, a very predictable plot line (Oh no, she’s in peril… Don’t worry - flying boot man will swoop in at the last second to catch her… AGAIN!) Random sequence in the middle that is straight out of The Fifth Element… Wait for the DMV gag… Wait for it!… THERE IT IS! This film would’ve been way better if the bad guy turned-out to be Peter Griffin! Don’t waste your time.

This is a great film and well worth a watch. Even my wife ,who doesn't like sci-fi, really enjoyed it. The story did take a bit to get going, and for us to get where it was going but once we did it was very enjoyable. The effects and production was fab.

Seriously under-appreciated. Pretty much all-star cast that are just brilliant - Eddie Redmayne by far the best. Absolutely loved it!

I don't usually write reviews, but I just wanted to say for money you spend renting on iTunes you need to really consider if you want to watch this film. The effects are okay, and clearly money has been spent in this area, but the plot is wafer thin, and not completely out of kilter with the effort put into the effects. I'm a sci fi fans, but this has made me less so 😔

I really wanted to like this movie but it just felt empty. The visuals hinted at epic, but nothing about the story was epic. The only things that stood out were the visuals, they often look spectacular but occasionally get a little too unbelievable. There are also only so many times the characters can nearly die only to miraculously survive before you start thinking "just die already". For something with such good visuals, it's surprising how much it asks you to use your imagination and suspend disbelief.

Has entertainment value, but I doubt you'll be bothered if you ever see it again after one viewing.

Thought this was a really good film, plenty of action and a fairly simple plot, loved it but only armed 4 stars because it felt a tad flat at the end, they could have ended it better...

Really good film

Aerial fight and chase sequences were way to long – hats off to the person who thought of putting the fast-forward button on the remote – you can save yourself about 30 minutes of your life. The plot is nothing original – brothers trying to out do other brothers and sisters. Special effects were reasonable but space ship design is nothing original. Worth a look.

Brilliant film; stunning special effects; pacy action from the start; beautiful performance from Mila Kunis; likeable characters, especially hero Channing Tatum. Remember this is SCIENCE FICTION not a gritty, realistic kitchen sink drama! The critics HATED Fifth Element when it was first released and it's now a cult classic; those who can't - criticise. Impeccable creation of detailed alien planets and colonies that can transport you away to another world if you have IMAGINATION; if you don't; why are you watching a science fiction adventure film?

Unsure why so many people are leaving such negative reviews, OK its not a five star movie but overall its enjoyable and worth a rent, I have seen a lot worse than this. defiantly worth a rent.

Not exactly sure why I spent any money on this at all. It's about two hours of mine and my friends lives that we will never get back. It's a real shame as the idea behind the movie is great and the special effects are fantastic, it's just the story and how that story flows is very poor. The acting of the main characters is well executed and it makes me wonder if a different director would of made a better job. I would compare this movie to that of John Carter, great idea, big budget, poorly executed.

My advice..........

Wait for it to be on TV, don't waste your money.
