Pixar prove they can handle sequels with as much ease as original efforts in this fast paced follow up to Toy Story. The overriding sense of fun these films capture has not been lost, and the storyline once again manages to balance between hilarity and genuine danger of the toys being discovered, this time by a depraved toy collector, voiced by Wayne Knight. The jokes retain their wide appeal and intended audience, ranging from childish slapstick such as Rex being used as a battering ram, and grinning-geek references to the likes of Star Wars and Jurassic Park. The main cast are developed further, and are joined by Kelsey Grammer as a villainous Prospector and another Tim Allen playing another Buzz Lightyear. Pixar buffs can also look forward to a brief appearance from Geri (of Geri's Game fame, a Pixar short released alongside A Bug's Life) as an elderly man who repairs toys. Needless to say, the animation is peerless, and has barely aged since the film's release. It's very rare a sequel is this flawless, with not a single weak link. If you haven't already seen Toy Story 2, you're in for a treat.
