USA has 4k upgrade but no upgrade for UK?! What's going on!

Alien is one of the greatest Sci-Fi movies ever created with it’s beautifully dark and moody aesthetic design and slow building story. Aliens on the other hand is a rollercoaster once it kicks in. It’s one of the rare instances in cinema where it not only meets expectations but surpasses them.

Modern movies could learn a few things about the female lead in this movie. Forget those hollow, perfect modern heroines of cinema today this is how it’s done. Ripley is one of the greatest female heroes of movie history for a reason as she is vulnerable but strong. Perfect Combination and believable too because of that. (Marvel are you listening??)

There are a handful of movies I wish I could go back and see for the first time again and this is one of them.

What more can you say, it’s Aliens. Kick back and enjoy one of the greatest Sci-Fi/Action movies to ever grace the silver screen. Let’s Rock!!

This is an absolute masterpiece to the Alien franchise. Weaver, Michael Biehn, Mark Rolston, Paxton and Goldstein were brilliant just to name a few! Excellent action and suspense sequences. Also, it is great that both the Ukrainian and German language is available for subtitles.

As vital plot cut to reduce length

Theatrical cut plays by default, but the 1990 special edition with 17 extra minutes of footage can be found in the iTunes extras menu.

The description says BOTH VERSIONS. THIS IS NOT TRUE! What you get is the THEATRICAL Version and the directors cut is not available anywhere as far as I can see and I have searched extensively.

Apple... sort yourself out, you are becoming annoying now and you are not the only tech manufacturer / streaming and download service. 1* purely because I can’t rate lower.

Aliens Is directed by James Cameron, starring Sigourney Weaver, Michael Biehn and Bill Paxton. The plot follows fifty seven years after the events of alien Ripley is found and asked to go back to lv 426 with coniel marines.

There you go a 2 and a half hour of a thrill ride. I love this movie, it is so entertaining, filled with memorable quotes especially from the late Bill Paxton “it’s game over man it’s game over” which is brilliant as well as “I am the ultimate bad ass” we get some of the best lines of dialogue ever, not one line felt out of place, the pacing is fast and intense.

I also think this is some of the best child acting from the girl who plays newt “they mostly come at night....mostly” terrifying line!

Sigourney Weaver also gives I think her best performance with what I think is the best movie heroin I’ve ever seen, she is a reluctant hero, in the first act she doesn’t even want to go to the planet. She has nightmares every night about the alien attack this makes her want to go to the planet to destroy the aliens for a closure. This movie also gives her so much humanity. Especially when you learn she was a mother at the beginning and so her relation ship with newt is lovely. All of the puppets and costumes are so brilliant it feels real because the actors are actually there with the xenomorph species.

You can’t unlike one character not one even the bad guy, I slightly liked him.

This movie is my 3rd favourite movie of all time

Was really disappointed to find that this was the version without the initial contact either the colonists or the sentry gun scene. iTunes has a real habit of not offering the extended cuts or bonus content while charging as much or often more that the blue ray dvd.

This is a good directors cut of a classic film. But I must say that the directors cut of Alien 3 is one of the best directors cuts I've seen as it completely makes the whole film change from a slightly confusing mess to something that makes sense. It's well worth a watch.....

A great film a classic.

With all due respect to Sigourney Weaver, who is mesmeric in the first two films, it is really better for the narrative if you end your viewing there.

The first two are genre defining classics. The rest are not worthy of the franchise.

Killing off newt at the beginning of 3, after everything she went through? I don't f**king think so. Shove it.

Alien and aliens are MORE than enough. They're all you need. In fact they're essential.

Put simply probably the best Sci Fi action movie of its time. This film might be nearly 30 years old but it's still one if the most exciting Sci Fi films ever. I would definitely recommend this movie.

As usual Fox release theatrical version of the film no doubt in the hope you will buy the bluray instead. I won't.

Probably my favourite film of all time. however, this is the theatrical version which isnt as good . come on itunes !!

Although this states the run time is the same as directors cut, do not be fooled. Not happy, i want a refund! Picture quality is very good. Was also a bit dubious by itunes previews - it might be an idea to have actual footage of what you are to buy.

This is the greatest horror-sci-fi-action film that has ever been made, and is the second best sequel film of all time (the best being The Empire Strikes Back). The special effects still completely stand up today, the story is superb, the action is gripping and the cast are first class. If you don't watch this film you are seriously missing out. You don't need to have seen Alien to appreciate this film, but it of course helps.

Yet again, Fox treats the UK customers like second class citizens...

Quite simply the best ever alien movie. Will never be surpassed certainly in my lifetime.

Having always considered aliens as the epic conclusion to the stunning 1979 alien i could watch it over and over. Try watching them back to back for full effect. The subtle horror of the first combined with the octane horror in Cameron's just complement one another terrifically.

The one/two star reviews are Ludicrous as are the 'length' of the movie negative remarks. Genuine fans of the franchise know the difference between the shortened theatrical release and the 'ride' fans were supposed to take in the extended directors cut (as highlighted numerous times over the years by cameron. Including LB426 colonist scenes and turret sentry scenes). The visual effects are also ahead of their time given production and available technology.

Weaver is just outstanding as the lead Ripley as are the numerous supporting cast.

You must see aliens at all costs!

I feel I have been ripped off, glad I only rented and NOT bought this film....loads missing. Waste of my money, iTunes have turned a 5 star film into a 2 star film.....sad tunes.

This film blew away the eighties. A brilliant film, one of Cameron's best and better than Alien and the other sequels.

Fans of the 2012 film Prometheus have been down putting this film, yet, Prometheus was utterly appalling! Prometheus served as a prequel, yet it had nothing to do with Alien and all the prequels.

On the whole, Aliens is the greatest eighties Sci-Fi film and is the best in the quadrilogy. Shame this isn't the Directors Cut...

The BEST movie in the Alien franchise. Sigourney Weaver and James Cameron at their finest. Some of the effects may now look a little dated, but this does not detract from the action. If you haven't already seen this, what are you waiting for? If you have seen this what are you waiting for?

Awful, ridiculous and a waste of time!!!

I suppose it must have been a good film at the time but it just made me laugh for all the WRONG reasons. Is the sign of a good film to lose all common sense!?!

This film changed my life! watched it first when i was young! watched it 100 times since! never gets old, has the same effect on my now as it did back then! watch it ! it will blow you away :)

The best out of them all. And a gr8 price

Doesn't quite have the subtle, haunting quality of Ridley Scott's 'Alien' and it's all very militaristic (it was made in the 1980s, the era of Thatcher and Reagan) but let us not be too snooty. Cameron's epic is white-knuckle action all the way. Highly recommended!

I bought this film shortly after watching prometheus. I have all the Alien films on blue ray, but as macs can't play blue rays i thought oo £3.99 isn't bad for this great film. Watched it last night and was very disappointed to see that the film has been heavily cut. The whole colonist scenes on LV426 which sets the reason why Rippley goes back has been cut completely from the film making no sense. Also the iconic turrets scenes in the tunnels against the aliens has also been cut completely, I'm sure theres more, but what is the point in making a brilliant film like this available on iTunes to only be disappointed by lack of content.

But watch the first one... Erm...first.

This is with out a doubt one the finest films ever made. James Cameron has never really made a finer film then this Sci Fi Master piece which is also one of Best sequels probably made. I've watch it so many times and still search for any comics that we're made after the films release.

The only 2 you need to watch in the Alien series is 1 and 2

I don`t know how many times i have watched this movie, but it has stood the test of time. The film still looks like todays movie. It an absolute GEM and there is nothing to say or add to what others already said. I hope the forthcoming prequel will live up to the standard, but since Sir ridley Scott is behind it then it will have to be excellent, the director of the first Alien.

I know that I'm nine so shouldn't be watching 18s but it really is awesome my other favourite is avp requiem.ALIENS-Go figure!

Of all action movies I have seen this is the best. It is a fantastic blend of sci-fi and action with a great story line and superb visual effects.

Great film and all that but aliens was released in 1986 not '99 - just change that for perfection. Shame James Cameron directed cos he's an idiot but in my opinion one of the top sci-fis ever

james cameron has made a brilliant film which is a trend he follows in all his over films but not so much avatar. this film embodies the sci-fi, action, thriller genere this film helped kick off

This film just blows me away It's a amazing film and the special effects are cool considering it was made in the 80s todays films could learn a thing or too from this movie a original classic unlike today's regurgitated rubbish! Unless it's Cameron of course with avatar!!

I agree with the points made by 'usbpoweradaptor'. iTunes have the shorter, deleted scenes version for sale. BE ADVISED, DON'T BUY this if you're looking for the full film. This is a bug-bear with iTunes, they always seem to only offer the shortened version of films. Why ? They charge enogh for them !

Otherwise, this would be a five-star film for me.

James Cameron's sci-fi sequel remains my all-time favourite film, and it cranks up the tension with explosive action sequences, nail-biting thrills, James Horner's excellent orchestral score and an edge of your seat finale that has to be seen to believed. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Ever since i was young, when my brother first showed me Aliens, I have been a huuuuge fan. This film is one of the greatest films (most certainly the greatest Sci-Fi film) ever made. James Cameron has gone far and beyond on the graphics, the set, the aliens themselves, the designs (amazing for the fact that this film was made 23 years ago!!!) Sigourney Weaver is THE star of the film (no one could ever play Ellen Ripley any better to be honest!) She has the raw emotion and talent to play a character as deep and troubled as Ripley so fantastically. If your looking for action, horror, sci-fi and fantastic fast-paced scenes at its best, this really is the film for you. All of the Alien films are amazing...they all bring something different. Download this now...you wont regret it!!! Just wished they had released the uncut version...its even better.

There are no words to describe it. Just utter brilliance from Sigourney Weaver. The best film she has acted in. The Aliens are awesome and the action is pretty nice, even though it takes a while to get to it. This is one of my all time favourites, right up there with John Carpenter's The Thing, Halloween, and the Dead series.

If there was only one ALIENS movie to have on your IPOD then look no further this is the one to own. The rating here alone tells the story, about time this was released to the UK market as it has been longgg over due.

An absolute classic! It will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time, every time. One of the best sci-fi movies of the 20th century.

Everything about this movie is done bigger, better and louder than any other sci-fi action film ever made. Many have tried to imitate the formula but none have come close to the shear scale or suspense of this masterpiece, this is the benchmark all Action films are measured against. Everything from the iconic Aliens, motion detectors, chest bursters, Alien queen fight scene and musical score of the film shows moviemaking at it's best! An essential purchase!

Even if sci fi isn't your cup of tea, this is one of the greatest action thrillers ever made. James Cameron's brilliantly constructed tale has a slow start, like the sublime original, but once things get going, it's a cracking ride that grabs the viewer and drags them to an explosive finale. Unlike some of Cameron's later films, which rely a little too heavily on special effects, this never lets CGI get in the way of a great story. You have to admire any movie which uses a light bulb for a nuclear explosion - inspired. Sigourney Weaver also gives a terrific performance as Ripley, and the rest of the cast are on fine form. It's little wonder the movie has been ripped off in countless offerings over the years. An added bonus is James Horner's score, especially during the edge of the seat finale.
